A video would've captured all the excited motion! The birds were quite active and acted annoyed at each other, and that makes for great action. But they're usually too close together because there are so many of them. Hard to get a shot without lots of bird distractions. Same way every year! |

Glad to hear the new cameras have improved focusing for moving objects. None of my cameras will lock onto a moving object...at least, I haven't been successful with it despite the camera manual's instructions! |

Oops, I just realized you took the photo from the boarding area...well, I think that viewpoint is why we can see the entire scene and activity so well. Great! |

I noticed the wings immediately! Nice wings! Afterward, I saw the little yellow bits of food...how cute! Maybe if that 3rd little bird wasn't there, the activity of catching the food would be more emphasized. See my example. |

You sure did "do" WINGS! Wonderful color, light, and composition. I love the bird's bright eye, too. I can't imagine even seeing something like this flying over me in person! I wouldn't know how to make my camera focus on the moving bird! |

Fantastic photo! So clear and bright. I've never seen de-icing in person. I'm so happy for you that you had the "right" seat on that plane! When I get a good seat, I always take out my camera, turn it on, and start looking for something interesting out the window. When there's nothing, I just video the take-off! Thanks for this great photo of a wing! |

Those wings are the center of attention! I think the bird is yelling, "Take your hands off my gorgeous wings and let me use them to fly, please, please!). So even the bird's expression is focusing us on his wings! Being up close and person with this kind of bird and ranger activity would make a great memory! I'm happy to hear that your husband beat his cancer! |

The plane is a good subject for wings. It looks like you hadn't "worked" the subject or else you would've had a photo that featured a wing. With your 24mm wide angle lens, you could've gotten some really interesting views!
I think the presentation of the plane itself would look nicer if it was brighter. See my example photo. |

I had thought of digitally removing that one bird. I guess I didn't do it because I was frustrated with myself that I didn't stay at the lake long enough to get a really great shot of these birds. The weather was so hot that I just couldn't force myself to shoot more...and I jumped into my air conditioned car! The birds are there every year, so I'll try again! |

Your image looked like a painting to me when I first saw it. A very nice painting with a pretty set of colors. After I read your description, I now know your pretty color palette was due to the golden hour of evening. Have you ever tried "continuous" shooting instead of one shot per push on the shutter button? That would give you a variety of shots to choose from, from the standpoint of the placement of the waves as well as an unexpected bird. |
