34 Dec 20 Comment What a clever idea, your metaphor of the bird escaping the cage. I see us all imprisioned by Covid 19, unable to travel, and not just internationally by plane. We've also been trapped in our houses and in our communities. Once the danger has passed - won't we all be bursting out all over?

Love what you have done with the cage and the eye-leaves. I wonder if there could be an improvement to the amount of perspective applied to the plane to make the back smaller (ie, increased perspective). I use Edit/Transform/Distort in Photoshop. And I would try Edit/Transform/Rotate to turn the back of the plane so that it points directly at the cage it has escaped from.

34 Dec 20 Comment Great story (yes, I always try to see a story), and it is well told. Don't think the wolf needs to be added, Steve, as it is implied. Besides, we all know the wolf is inside dressed up as Grandma and waiting in the bed. . . .

Beautifully made. That you warmed up the tones has added a welcome to the scene, making it more inviting, and I like the repeat of the reds of the cloak into the fallen leaves on the ground.

34 Dec 20 Comment Steve, I see the Lady of the Forest. To me, the story is of her tender care of the biosphere; she is Mother Nature, she is the observer, the artist and the instigator bringing the Autumnal golden glow and signalling the leaves to drop.

If this was your intention - her gentle supervision of the woods might be strengthened if her gaze was directed towards the fungi. At present she is looking at me, the viewer, and it is quite a challenging gaze rather than a benevolent gaze. I wonder "what does she want from me?" Am I an intruder who is not welcome? The set of her mouth is disapproving. I'm going to beat a hasty retreat now.

Technically excellent. Beautifully harmonious tone, and perfect fit of the elements of composition, the face, the fungi and the forest. All right, I'm going. I know when I'm not wanted.

34 Dec 20 Reply Thanks Steve. I'm not convinced that the extra light burst helps the image though. Dec 9th
34 Dec 20 Comment Wow, Alan, I love what you did with the background street scene. It reminds me of a lead pencil drawing. The muted colour effect has excentuated the detail of the buildings and cobbled street, at the same time as allowing the figure to stand out.
I like that the figure on the right seems to be looking at the cafe menu board. It's a good reason to be loitering there purposefully.
Having gazed at your image for some time, I think there is something uncomfortable about the shadows under your figures. There is no shadow under the tables, but both figures have a quite heavy shadow, one to the left and one to the right. If it was mine, I would back the shadows off quite a bit, whilst adding some shadow to the sides of the shoes of both figures - they seem to be standing out from the pavement.
Very impressive piece of work - well done.

34 Dec 20 Comment Candy, I am looking for the story you are telling. I see Alice in Wonderland with the Cheshire Cat appearing in the background - or disappearing leaving only its smile. If yes! Well done you. The story is strong.
I would have liked the cat's eyes to be gazing at Alice. That would keep the viewer's eye cycling within the elements of the image.
I think the fresh poppies combined with the wilted roses are odd. I can't imagine how those two elements go together, or how they relate to Alice within the story.
Lighting falling from the left on Alice and the background is coherent - but the poppies are lit from the right and the roses lit from the front.
Otherwise, very nicely handled technically.
