2 Mar 22 Comment Great shot! Wow, that cloning of the hand is masterful. I agree with Shirley that I would like to see more of the girl's body. I like the plaid she is wearing. It kind of stands in opposition to the fist and the slogan on the shirt. How in the world do you do that! I think the lighting on the hair is really excellent and serves to punctuate the defiant stance she has taken. Mar 6th
2 Mar 22 Comment It is sunflower month!!! I wish I had one to post! I think I would have cropped in a bit tighter so that your worker bees would be more prominent. I did not notice them at first and when you mentioned them I had to go back to find them. This is certainly sharp enough to crop in. The technique you used to do the painting on the background area is wonderful. I have never tried to do that and you are inspiring me to give it a go. Mar 6th
2 Mar 22 Comment Shirley, I really like how you dealt with the inversion to adjust the background. I particularly like the bit of color you brought in on the top left of the image. It is very sharp to be hand held even at the shutter speed you used. I have that lens and it can be tricky to keep it steady! Mar 6th
2 Mar 22 Comment Great cleaning up of the extraneous parts that took away from the subjects. Lovely animals! Does anyone out there remember the TV show "MR. Ed" who was a talking horse? I probably am the oldest member here so am showing my age. Anyway, these two look just like him. It was a very funny TV sitcom years ago!I am glad that you cropped out the sky. It was adding nothing and the barn as the backdrop really tightens up the image. Mar 6th
2 Mar 22 Comment This is really a lovely image. I do wish that there would be a way to sharpen the center bird into focus. For some reason it bothers me not to have him sharp. I love the serenity in the image with the soft focus but I just think I wanted something to give me reference to off set the softness. Odd threes have it though with a very nice line up! Mar 6th
2 Mar 22 Comment Shirley, It is a PSA class and one that I am not at all qualified to take as the prerequisite was taken off the schedule and I opted try the harder one. It has been a struggle but oh my, how much I have been learning. I am not back in the beginner class to catch up before continuing on with the harder one. To all of you, I recommend taking a look at the offerings. I have found both instructors who I have worked with excellent and fair. Mar 6th
2 Mar 22 Reply Martin, Thank you for the kind words! i have worked very hard on this one. I agree about the hair. I have gotten a few comments on the photo and that is one area that should be toned down a bit. I believe that the basic problem was that I had the reflector in the wrong place to filter the light so it got a bit strong. I toned down much of it but never addressed the hair. You are also correct about the eyes. One of the things I need to do is learn to see the details better at the actual shoot rather than seeing it after the fact. It would have been so easy to have her turn a bit! Next time! Mar 6th
