Thanks for the comment...Yes, that is the magic of Witch Hazel. It blooms in February and is a wonderful pick me up in weather like cold and snow! It is great that so many have agreed on how to make the photo more impactful. Big question is....Why didn't I think of that!!!! |

Hey, Shirley. to be honest I am so wanting Spring that I felt bad posting this. Thanks for your attention to detail. I have a much happier and silly posting for next month! Yay! |

Thank you for the comments. I believe that the idea of more depth of field is what this picture is really missing. I really did not like the results I got and that would probably make the entire photo much better. I appreciate this feedback because it is something that did not occur to me.
Hopefully, my next photo will be more interesting. |

Thanks, Piers. I will go back and try more cropping on the left. However, I am not going to wish for more snow to experiment with the f/8.0!!! I will remember it for next time.
Thanks for the comments. |

I agree with Shirley to add as much as possible of the guitarist on the right. there is a tension between the lead and the background musician that makes the photo intriguing and initiates the viewer to come up with a story to narrate the action of the photo. Really good work here. |

I agree with all the comments above. The framing really makes a difference in the "pop" of the flower. Love this! |

Great shot! I agree with Martin that the post on the right is a bit distracting but am not sure if there is a way to get it out of the shot. Maybe a different angle? Another idea might be to see what happens if you tighten up the crop so that Mom and baby are central focus and you lose some of the back feathers of the Mom. Still color is good and image is quite sharp. Well done. |

This is great! I have to say I have never seen anything like it so was totally unsure what I was looking at until I read your description! One thing I do like in the original is the depth that you get by seeing the background. I might have tried to keep the tree more a part of the picture to add to the perspective. However, your photo is lovely and not sure if any change is necessary. |

Great shot! I adore photographing birds but it is so hard to capture just the right moment to tell the story. What captures me here is the symmetry of the bills and that would led me to not crop out the front bird. Was that a possibility and just did not work. It is hard to see if that would make this any better. Nicely done! |
