Good opportunity and the shot is pretty strong. On my montior though the highlights are really bright and you may want to pull down the exposure and then pull up your brightness and contrast a bit. I am a CaptureOne girl so not sure if that translates
Also: OOOPs. Your image last month was posted after I typed up all my other reviews so I missed it. Over all a good shot: perhaps some selective mask work to pull the face and shoulder out of the shadow. I'm not keen on the current crop/presentation as the lack of more negative space on the right means the bird and view line a bit truncated. Since you mentioned a heavy crop consider going for a square (something I almost never recommend!) or perhaps landscape aspect and see if that opens it up a bit. (This is why I posted to our new BB.) |

Considering the original image you worked with the result is admirable. While the story isn't super strong, the fact that you have a pair taking off makes for strong image. Overall the edits to bring the exposure and levels up are good. My one suggestion would be to change your crop and try to include all the wake. Then try flipping the image to see what you get. Also with did you define the subject in Topaz AI? I ask because I'm still not a fan of that app: I prefer to use their stand alone DeNoise and Sharpen (in that order) and to thus have more control over the results. In this case the water is pretty noisy and the water overly sharp.

Had to do a bit of research to sus out if the bit of brown was part of the same snake (It is!). Overall the image is great: good focus and levels. Plus the fact that is showing a behavior strengthens the story. Probably not one for a Nature Division comp, but definitely great for Nature+
Only suggestion would be to open up the frame a bit to allow just a wee bit more negative space on the right side: not lots just a bit to lengthen the view line. |

The hues/levels are great but at the current res it's hard for the viewer to discern which bits of the bird are the head and as a result what is being depicted. Since the image is only 90KB, which is well under the 1MB limit, for the next round see if you can up your finished exported image's pixel lenght/width for a larger result. |
