A good capture. In the current presentation it is evident the woodpecker was a good height above you: consider cropping to remove some of the bottom branch in the frame and then if possible include more negative space above the subject. I also like Jack's suggestion of adding a capture light to the eye if you can.
Also consider flipping the image just to see what you get/if you like it more.

A domestic dog: the Nature Plus aspect has already been tackled by others, so my only comments are towards strengthing the image. Consider cropping in tighter: basically keep the aspect ration the same but remove the left side tree and some of the foreground as both are distractions. |

Normally I'm not a fan of the square crop for non-instagram photos, but because you have balanced it out with two subjects it works for this image. Consider some extra post work to remove some of the back ground noise.

If you stick with the square crop consider cropping in even more to remove the leaf edge on the left and thus have a more uniform background. Overall a good portrait shot of a butterfly. |
