Thanks for the idea: I will actually be in other areas: heading to Lembeh for a week of muck diving and then a live aboard on Cenderawasih Bay for a week and a half with a few days in Bali at the end of trip. |

Unrelated yet related: you asked last month about my impression of the Topaz Photo AI:
Used the original iteration when there was almost no control and was not amused/happy with it. Then I tried it out for a big project I did last week and while there is more functional control I find I still get better results if I push through DeNoise and Sharpen as separate steps. When I get back from vacation I'll try to submit some examples: like a final image but also intermediary steps using the varying tools. |

Intriguing image and good find, but hampered by the small file size: it's only 117KB and 600x400: see if you can push your processing recipe to export something with a long edge of 1200 or 1600 for next month. I blew the image up on my monitor to better comment and so will ignore the resulting noise: you might try cropping in closer and removing much of the foliage on the right side of the frame. Then perhaps pull down the highlights on the greenery. (No time to play with images this month as things have been full on at the ranch.) |

Lovely bird in flight capture: take offs and landings are often the most interesting and this showcases that. You didn't mention your processing and if you cropped, so here are my suggestions for strengthening the image. Consider pulling down the brightness of the background and then mask to bring up the midtone brightness of the subject as right now the chest plumage gets lost in the frame. Then if you did crop, consider opening it up a bit: perhaps with more negative space either above or below the subject to give the view line an echo of the subject's movement as right now with the almost square crop, the view line is very constrained. (No time to play with images this month as things have been full on here at the ranch.)
Sidenote: perhaps I'll see one of these next month! I'll be in Indo for a dive/birding trip. |

Very nice family unit capture. The colors are well balanced and the sharpness is good. My only big suggestion is perhaps to crop in even closer to remove as much of the grass as possible and thus create a framing device of the parents to suggest more strongly the bond/protective nature of the larger birds. |

You didn't mention what processing you have already done, so I'm going to…wing it.
A nice capture but post work to isolate the subject from the sky is evident as there is artifacting (a slight halo effect) surrounding the raptor. There's also some weird noise in the background - showing rather purply on my monitor. I'd go back to your original image and get your white balance and levels to your liking and then before any masking work play with your highlights/shadows as well as midtown brightness to see if you can pull down the sky to separate it from the subject. (No time to play with images this month as things have been full on here at the ranch.)
