Wow…that's a lot of commitment! All your work paid off. My only kvetch is the thorax is a bit dark and soft: a little selective masking might help the issue. Might want to darken down the background a bit to really make the subject pop more.
Oye! somehow or other I failed to post my write-ups so everyone is getting a before and after review to make up for my mistake. Still not sure how it happened…wasn't until I went to post my Group2 reviews that I noticed the issue.

Mike's idea of tilting made me think a full 90 degree rotation would really make for a novel shot especially if you are going to use it for another card like one of your last images.

A nice shot: on my monitors it's crisp and sharp and the colors are well done. I like the crop especially since the original was pretty far away and had the railing in present.

My only added suggestion would be to play around with the background: try some other curves and see what you get as more complimentary hue might really make the blues and greens of the bird pop even more.

A nice novel shot of a the animal. I'm not especially fond of the b&w, as I think the lovely details of the eyes are lost. Perhaps instead of such a stark modification, work to tamp down the blue sky and brighten up the tree trunk.

Just saw your question about frames: I'm not a big fan of digital frames added to images, as depending upon use, they can end up being more of an issue in the long run: example an image published on a website would be better framed by the content management software to allow for easier modification should you change the underlying theme/CSS later. Plus frames, as Sharon pointed out, aren't permissible in most PSA events.

Nice sharpening work to bring get the ants clearer. For fun, I'd play more with the crop and the diagonal line and see if you get it to fully bisect the image into two triangles.

I'm really struggling to find more critique-like things to say: I really like the shot and outside of perhaps playing with the crop a bit to see if you like other options like perhaps having the lower ant weighted even more towards the bottom and a bit more negative space in the upper right….I'm coming up short.

On my monitor your levels are really blown. I'd pull the entire exposure down at least a full stop and then selectively brighten some of the areas if too dark. The current crop is also a bit too wide for my liking plus for such action I'm not fan of the square crop.

I kind of Pamela's crop idea. I also think cropping to a landscape and keeping the entire bird in the frame would be worthwhile to try. On second viewing I also think tamping down the sky even more would help sharpen up the story.
