Ah...autocorrect how much mischief you make.
Feathering. That is what I meant. Should be an option in your tools to reduce the strength of the mask/layer edges. |

I like the overall composition, but think the initial exposure was so dark to begin with recovering detail is probably an uphill battle. (Blah blah blah, metering on birds/higher ISO/other stuff you probably know... :) )
In terms of post work though, a gradient mask on the background might be of use and then pushing the exposure on the birds even more.
May have to borrow your technique for removing unwanted subjects in the future... :)

Good work applying your new skills! My only kvetch is that you might want to crop just a wee bit tighter to remove the small bit of purple from another flower in the upper right corner. |

I agree with Mike and Pamela regarding the need for more sky space along the top of the image. I also think you might want to try removing the human figures -- to me they are a distraction. |

I like the initial shot as its well focussed and lit. Tips: try featuring your mask more as that would reduce the glow you are worried about. Additionally if you have the Topaz Mask tool, you could play about with it. Compositionally I think you could go even tighter on the blossoms. |

I agree with Mike, but you may want to play with your tools with this image for practice. Try playing with the exposure values as well as Brightness/Clarity. Compositionally you might also want to play with various crops that keep the lighthouse as it adds interest and creates more story-telling possibilities. |

yep it's a Snowy: beak variations are pretty normal as they change color as a bird reaches adulthood. Also Snowy's are one of the few waders that will stand in water up to their bellies when hunting. |

I think all the work you did in post are well done and effective to improve a well focussed image. My only quibble is that I'm not generally fond of square crops and in this case I think the composition would be improved by flipping the image and then having a bit more of the water on the right side for the bird's and viewer's eye to travel. |
