Hi Thorro, Dramatic pic. I too would have gone for a more uniform colour, so as not to detract from the falls (sky and right upper area). I love the textures and shapes of the rocks: I see eagles, elephants, hyenas... |

Hi Steve, I like your choice of subject matter: a flamingo doing something so un-traditional: pretending to be a swan! Of course, they are generally photographed in parts of the world where there is not enough water to glide in. We recently discovered swans on an isolated lake that cannot fly because they have never needed to avoid predators. I, on the other hand, love the complimentary yellows: just a personal preference. |

Stan an iconic photo of an iconic destination. As an ex New Zealander it tugs at the heart strings. What a fortunate moment of light: captured beautifully. Every trip I've done has been dramatically grey and threatening: the last one in torrential rain with temporary waterfalls pouring over the plateau, like God had emptied a bucket out of the sky. I like Thorro's edit: more water, and leading in from the higher part of the peak on the right. |

Lovely photo Matthias. Perfect choice of position. It's intriguing how flipping the photo emphasises the complimentary lines of the lower branch and mountain ridge, leading the eye in from the left. In the original the mountain leads to the tree, where the tree leads to the mountain in the second view. It makes me wonder how countries that write from right to left would view this photo, and whether they would prefer the original? |

I like your black and white: crisp and clear, and the angle is just perfect. My preference would be for the original colour, probably because the cold blues in original remind me of South Island New Zealand's glacial water. |

I had the same reaction: If only the boat had been further back, or I had zoomed out faster... Would have loved to have captured the whole reflection. They come down so fast, out of nowhere. Would the angle have been right, the feathers as detailed, the reflection so clear? |
