The palm trees are well positioned in the shot and I agree with the others about the attractive silhouette. This is one of those shots that can be described as "the right time and the right place" and you took full advantage of it. |

I also like the contrast between the flowers and the background, the colours compliment each other very nicely. I agree that more detail in the orchids would improve the image. |

A good still life is difficult to achieve but you have produced an excellent one here. I agree with David and would add that the elimination of the obvious signs of the sideboard and the smooth transition from the wooden surface to the black background works really well. My winter project is to experiment with still life and you have set a high standard to follow. |

Thanks David, the bit I was unsure about was the roof and whether to include it. Often I find that old buildings lend themselves to black and white. The colours on the wall appealed to me in this case but maybe the roof is in too good a condition. |

You have certainly captured the chaos of the race. The stand out aspect of the picture is the coxes encouraging their crews to put in maximum effort and I like the way you have concentrated on the pack (so to speak) because there is a boat in front of number 1 which would not have illustrated the chaos so well if you had included all of it. The reflections in the stirred up water add to the atmosphere of the race. |

The adjustments you have made in post production have really made this image pop. The colours have come out very well and there is lots of interest in the sky. The crop has taken away the distraction of the strong light on the path at the front. A great image. One question: you say in your narrative that this is a stitched image so how have you stitched it? I associate stitching with creating panoramas with a series of images but this seems to be a single shot. |
