I think you have produced a good image from an uninspiring shot from distance. I am impressed with the clarity of your zoom lens. The cropping is good and you have brightened up the image nicely. The downside for me, which could not be helped, is that the gate and the fence provide a barrier between the viewer and the subject. I'm sure you would have preferred to take the shot without the fence but it is a good image nonetheless. |

The bird is lovely and sharp and it forms a good triangle with the two branches. I like backgrounds that are diffused but also give an indication of the type of background like this one rather than a diffused plain green which you often get. I am fascinated by the strength of the blue reflection on the lower branch. It seems too much to be coming from the bird so it must be coming from the sky. The kingfishers we get in the UK are very different to this one but I don't have a picture of one to show you. |

This technique gives some interesting images. The best part of your image for me is the clump of flowers in the upper right where the multiple exposure is most pronounced. I was introduced to this technique on a trip with other photographers to Kew Gardens in South London and tried it out there. Your image is better than anything I achieved but I will keep trying !! |

I think you have controlled the strong background light very well and produced an enjoyable image. There is good separation between the lady's back and the distant buildings and I like the deep shadows in the foreground. As an aside, my sister lives in Fairfax Station, Virginia and I may have trodden this street myself on a visit to Washington DC. |

I agree with David but would add that I think an improvement would be to brighten the right hand side of the image to bring out more detail in the trees and beach or alternatively crop it to the left slightly. This is another of your enjoyable night time images. |
