I wonder if bracketing would have worked for this image. I find it works well with high contrast stationary images. The glass is the attractive part of the shot and the merging of the under-exposed shots with the straight one may remove the blown out bits. If you took this in RAW it might be possible to adjust the exposure to mimic what the camera would have done and then blend in Photoshop. The background colours are attractive but I think a slightly desaturated background would highlight the glass even more. Very enjoyable image made better by the reflections. |

Another very creative image. Not something I would do because I would have eaten the peanuts !! The action is good and it stands out well from the background. I think I would try to make the wires stand out more or maybe use thicker wire. Very enjoyable yet again. |

I agree with Zina that the edits make the image pop. You say in the narrative that the sun captured your attention but then you have cropped it out in the final image. However, the brightness on the sand is attractive and it is clear where the light is coming from. The pier looks magenta on my screen and I think I would have rather enhanced the yellow of the original to reduce the sharp contrast with the strip of sand bottom right. It is an intriguing and enjoyable image. |

The title gives a clear indication of what you want the image to portray and your final image conveys it very well. I like the way you have deepened the shadows to make it more dramatic and I always like a reflection in an image. I would remove the yellow kayak in the foreground which I see as a major distraction. Having said that, there is another interpretation in which you could brighten up the kayaks and make them the focal point of the image but I would still remove the yellow one. |

Thanks Zina. Your inclusions of the distractions is interesting because I always try to simplify my images and not to tell too many stories at once. I also hate scaffolding which at present is difficult to exclude from our shots because it seems to be everywhere. |

Thanks Bob. I straightened the image using the pillar on the left but I think yours is a better choice. I included the ghostly figure on the left to add balance to the man on the mobile phone. Personally, I think both of our interpretations work. |
