I like the original image because it creates a great sense of space which is lost in the second image. The patterns in the foreground rocks are highlighted by the light coming from the left which is also casting attractive speckles in the sea. I think an improvement to the original, if possible, might be to draw out a bit more detail in the sky. The second image appears to be another shot because the position of the man originally on the left has changed. |

Were the original and cropped images the same image? I ask because there is more of the roofs of the buildings in your final image. I am not suggesting a different crop to include the tourists top right in the original but probably cheat a bit and move one of them into the final image. My wife says it is cheating but I say it is art. |

Thanks Zina. I actually cloned out some birds in the background leaving the magical (to the purists) odd number of 5. I experimented by leaving out the birds in the background but felt that, without them, the image lacked a bit of interest. I left the coot in the foreground because he was fleeing from the perceived danger behind him and added a bit of humour. |

Another great piece of imagination that really pops out against the black background. The whole image looks quite sharp to me which is what I would expect from f22. Nice contrasting colours between the mourner's head and the flower. Very enjoyable image. |

I think the crop works because it creates a leading line using the path through the image and concentrates on the buildings that the path leads to but I find the position of the tourists distracting. Someone really needs to be up by the top right hand building maybe looking back into the scene rather than a group at bottom left. My interpretation is that you have tried to match the scene to the new sky by softening it whereas my recollection of Ireland is the green so I would have tried to change the sky to match the rest of the scene. The image illustrates the contrast between the old and new buildings very well and certainly would be a place I would like to visit. |

Your edits have certainly brought out some detail in the rocks in what was originally a rather drab scene. The change of sky has also helped to brighten things up. I think you have illustrated the capabilities of Lumi (not known to me but I assume it is image manipulating software) but the scene itself lacks a bit of interest. |
