Now I have had time to go back to my mono print file the information was there with quite a lot of detail on the foliage of the pine trees. I am not surprised they do not come across as they should, as the original file was PSD at over 6000 px wide. What you have been looking at was a 1200px version at JPEG level 6, so the reduction in both size and quality greatly de-grades the image. |

I virtually never use Nik filters as I have seen too many images spoilt by using the presets at too high a strength. All my mono conversions are done by using a stack of masked black and white adjustment layers. I usually start with the sky if present ,or the main subject ,then build around them the rest of the tones as required. This system gives me a lot of flexibility and the ability to keep making minor adjustments to the tones as required. |

As you say this is a fun shot that will bring back many happy memories. In many ways I feel that you have included too much in the image, the strongest part is around the lady's face near the top. o me the flowers etc at the base are just setting the overall scene. |

You had quite a walk to get this shot. I can see the attraction of the view, but as am image I feel it lacks impact and a relatively strong centre of interest. |

I like the overall effect of this image, and the pink colouration of the sky. I feel however that the texture layer has been applied at the wrong layer level, as we can see texture on the tree branches when it should really be behind the branches. |

I really like this image, it is simple but highly effective. the positioning of the vase on the third is spot on and the two other glasses create a lead in and a stop for the eye. The very light and almost colourless treatment to the branded etc in the background, helps to concentrate attention on the vase and glasses. |

You appear to have created sufficient depth of field on this image by moving further away from the subject, which is a very good technique ignored by many photographers. I like the main grouping of the three flowers, though I would have treated the image slightly differently in post-processing - applying some selective sharpening to them just to make them stand out more. The background however sewers too dominant with the bright flowers on the left. I would crop the very strong flower bottom left off and then slightly de-saturated and slightly darkened all the background. |

You have captured a moment in time which is not going to be available to many of us.
The long exposure has allowed us to see the trail of the climbing rocket and the night sky. It was short enough to allow small star trails but they were short enough not to attract attention. Well done, an interesting piece of photography. |

Here is my mono version of the image, if think it will be better printed on a metallic paper as that will help make the trees stand out more. it all depends on how light the grass and bracken on the hillside are converted. |
