Your first version of the image did nothing for me, I feel that your new version is much improved. I feel that the blanking out of the writing on the low sign was important as our eye usually goes almost straight away to writing and it can cause a major distraction. Looking at you original I feel that your exposure was not right and if you had taken it in raw you could have made 2 or more conversions to get the tonal balance that you needed. |

I feel that this has been too tightly cropped, particularly at the top. I can see some burn out on the front petal, and it gives me impression the flower was artificially lit with low down light source. I like the way that you have captured detail/texture on most of the petals. |

To me the conversion to mono has been very effective in this image, it has reduced many of the colour distractions that were in the background. The dark clothing of the lead rider really stands out in the mono version and the brightness of the green rider has been subdued so that attention is concentrated on the lead rider. Have you considered colour popping the lead bike and rider? |

Your darkening of the background has definitely helped by reducing the distractions there. You made a good choice of shutter speed fast enough to freeze the bike and rider, but slow enough to blur the background. I am not keen on the application of motion blur, it looks false on parts of the bike, also the motion blur has created a halo around the wheels. It could be very effective only used on the centres of the wheels, so that they do not looks if they were not rotating. |
