A letter box is a long rectangular shape either horizontal or vertical. A key line is a thin white/ black or coloured that acts a as a boundary to the image. |

The slight coloured edges in this image are an artefact that can occur when using High Pass to sharpen, they do not usually occur on mono images, and have probably been enhanced by the large reduction of file size and conversion to JPEG to put in this folio. They can easily be moved in mono images by applying desaturation.
This is travel image and similar rules about cloning apply as to natural History and photo-journalism, basically you must not alter the truth of the image by adding or removing elements except by cropping. |

In the UK most house doors have letterbox in them - it is a covered slit about 10 inches long and 2 inches high for the post to go through. A photography a letter box is a similar long rectangular shape used horizontally or vertically, in many ways similar to a panorama. |

I like your image very much, particularly the very relaxed expression on the girls face.I like your softening of the background to make her stand out more, and see that you have successfully applied minimum blur so that there is no obvious bleeding of the colours. However I feel that the ground and the ledge she is sitting on should not have been blurred, as it makes it look as if she has been placed into the image. |

I like your idea and timing of this shot in the first rays of morning light To me the main problem is that the darkness of the background merges so easily into the black of the computer screen. I feel that it needs a white letterbox key line to show exactly what is the image. |

Versailles is a fabulous place for photography, my favourite time there is October making good use of the autumn colours. I feel here that you have cropped in a little too tightly on the vase, particularly at the base, which fortunately was grass and therefore could be extended without too much difficulty. |

Looking at your original image, there is a very busy and colourful and distracting background surrounding the flower, which was better eliminated. Converting to mono and blacking out the background was a good solution to the problem. I would have liked to have sen a little more space around the flower as the would have allowed the edges of some of the petals to have been included and a soft vignette used. |
