The removal of the additional stalks etc has greatly improved the image. To me the green stalk in front of the flower is not part of that flower so in repeating the shot I would move it to one side. |

Underwater photography tends to be a very specialist field and usually concentrates on bright coloured fish, I like the fact that you have seen something different and then photographed it. I find the main subject to be very central, but appreciate that you cannot use a viewfinder in the same ay as on land. I would suggest that in future similar circumstances you shoot in raw if possible as it gives more control over lighting colour in processing. |

You have really captured the emotion of the situation, and the excellent interaction between lady and child. As so often happens on these occasions, you are working against a very busy and distracting background, that for PJ competitions cannot be altered. The only solution to this type of situation is the use of a very wide aperture fixed lens to throw the background out of focus at the taking stage. Replacing the background could make an excellent none-PJ shot. |

In this image you were not helped by the lighting coming fairly strongly from the left, and your treatment has increased the contrast and saturation in the shadow areas, to the point in which his face has become un-realistic. I feel that your crop has been effective in reducing un-required parts of the image, and that a simple soft edge lightening of the right side of the image would probably have achieved a more realistic looking result. |

To me you were not helped by the light coming in very strongly from the right, making much of the bird in shadow, particularly part of its head. feel that a little more work could have been done to lighten up the head and make it stand out more from the background.
My main comment would be that the bird is far to tight in the frame particularly on the left hand side. This is probably a trans-atlantic situation as in the UK we prefer more space around the subjects in nature shots. |
