Nothing worth trying to recover from the under exposed raw file. |

Your black background does not work for me, it looks very artificial. I would like to see something lighter that still retains some of the texture of the foliage in it. I had a play myself but could not achieve what I felt was acceptable. |

Yes the top of the fence now leads on to the path.
Keep playing it is the best way to learn. |

I prefer the colour image as there is insufficient separation between the horses and background in your mono version. Nik filters are very good in many respects but feel that they do not give sufficient colour tonal separation control in an image like this. To me the greens of the trees need lightening and the red browns need darkening to
increase the separation of the greys, but the background could quite easily go too muddying grey
I would suggest using the colour image in competition having removed some of the blue from the shadow areas -its' judge fodder' |

Your darkening of the background and removal of the man has greatly improved the image as it has concentrated attention on the girl with her umbrella. I can see couple of minor errors in cloning out the man. Would suggest that in cloning situation like this that you - copy the layer, then generously clone out the man on the lower layer (accuracy is not required) then apply a layer mask to the upper layer and accurately paint out the man with black. |

To me this is an interesting piece of imaging, rather than photography. I don't think that your original image had a strong enough content, especially with the fence blocking the lead in to be successful as it stood. Your treatment in particular the cropping therefore has improved it as an image. |

This is a very effective piece of construction, so often we see fireworks images without any ground interest. To me what really makes this is the inclusion of the Star Wars panels at the base, and the clouds behind the fireworks. There is a lot of distortion with the outer elements turning up and in. I wonder whether it could be transformed so as to be straightened up. |
