48 Jul 21 Comment Hi Tom, welcome to the group! What an amazing bird photo! The detail in the mother and the chick is wonderful. Did you have to wait and watch the nest a long time to get this shot? I also loved going to the Anhinga Trail in Everglades National Park. It's a great place to see a lot of birds. My husband got some great shots of purple gallinule there. Jul 26th
48 Jul 21 Reply Thanks Jamie. I have the same issue. Nilmini suggested focus stacking, which would have helped, but I didn't have a tripod with me. Jul 6th
48 Jul 21 Reply Lloyd, the original raw file is 61MB. The file I sent to Bev is 763KB. I looked at my original in Lightroom and the sharpest focus is in the middle of the image where the row of multicolored tulips is. I think I figured out what I did wrong. I was using a 24-200 lens and I had it out to 200mm. I checked my aperture again and it was F18. I think my mistake was taking the shot from too far away which affected the depth of field. I'm not sure if that's correct or not. If you have suggestions on exporting the image, I would appreciate them. Jul 6th
48 Jul 21 Reply I knew I was losing it! Now you've confirmed it! :-) Jul 6th

48 Jul 21 Comment Jamie, I like your editing of the image. It seems to emphasize the textures. The sky is also more interesting. The one thing I don't like is the changes to the cannon itself. To me the original looks dark and old, which is what I would have expected. In the edited version, to me the supports and wheels almost look like fairly new stainless steel, which feels out of place. I looked at the original again, and maybe the supports etc are all newer. Jul 5th
48 Jul 21 Comment Margaret, it's a really pretty and peaceful shot. I love the stone arch framing the top. The one thing that hit me was the building and windows. I can see that there was no way to get the shot without them, but they pull me back into a more urban feel.

48 Jul 21 Comment Lloyd, this is a really interesting image. I like the change to the background. I do think the bird stands out better when it's lightened a bit. One small picky thing is that the bird looked straighter to me in the original. I don't know if the change was due to cropping or not. One other funny comment. This photo could almost be a Rorschach test. I'm not sure if I'm the only crazy person who sees what looks like a dogs face with the eyes in the wings and ears in the wing tips and muzzle in the bird's face. Jul 5th
48 Jul 21 Comment Nilmini, What a beautiful shot! I really enjoyed reading your description. You captured a special moment between Tom and the horse. Thank you for the additional information about how you used PhotoPills. I have been thinking of getting the app. Now that I read your explanation, I'm anxious to try it. Jul 5th
48 Jul 21 Comment Bev, this is a really nice street shot. I like all the soft colors and the trees in the background. I agree that the man on the right should be cropped out, and maybe part of the ATM.

48 Jul 21 Reply Thanks Margaret. Thanks for the tips. Next time I'll try a smaller aperture. Jul 5th
48 Jul 21 Reply Thanks Bev. The version you posted was my original. I also sent an edited version where I took out the fence posts and the person in the background and removed some of the dust from a tractor on the top left portion of the shot. Jul 5th
