Thanks, Beverly. I'd love to see your image. This one was taken when I was in an intermediate photography class. I was still struggling with all the settings (not that I don't still do that) on the camera. Managed to get a good shot, which made me very happy. |

Emily,
I really love this shot. The combination of the sailboat and the skyline are great. To me that is the most interesting part of the shot, so I kept feeling that I wanted to see it up closer. I tried yet another crop and then I decided to use Luminar to enhance the picture. I hope you like it. |

Lloyd, the second one you posted is great. Would you please give us a brief explanation of high key? Forgot to mention that I have used a teleconverter with my 200-500 lens and have always struggled to get the photo as sharp as I would like.

Thanks Jamie, I like your crop. It gives it more symmetry. |

Thanks Margaret, I actually shot it hand held. The only reason I thought about a little lower shutter speed was that the ISO was pretty high. |

Lloyd,
Thanks for the suggestion. I cropped out the door and hinge on the left and I think it looks better. |

Lloyd, I like the idea that you were going for, but unfortunately, to me it looks like none of the ducks are in sharp focus. Since I don't understand high key style, I may be way off the mark with my comment. I was going to suggest that you crop out the grass in the foreground to put more focus on the ducks. Since the image is small, I'm guessing that you can't crop it any further. |

Jean, the way the sunlight it hitting the tree is almost magical. It's a lovely shot. I had the same thought as Lloyd, so I cropped your image to see how it would look. I think cropping may have helped put the focus even more on the tree. |

Jamie, I love your creative use of monochrome. I would never have thought that I would like the tulips in monochrome because I love the colors in them so much. However, I think your editing took the photo to a whole new artistic level. I love all the softness around the main tulip. Also, I like the way the background is minimized. |

Margaret, I love this scene. All the beautiful colors and the leading line of the street are great. It makes me want to walk into the scene to see what's at the far end. All the detail in the architecture and the pops of color from the crowd are great. My only suggestion on the sky is that to me it seems a little too dark blue. I like all the interesting details on the top of the buildings on the left, and to me, the dark sky seems to hide them by blending into them a little too much. |

Bev, I like the way your editing enhanced the little pops of color throughout the scene. The contrast of pretty colors against the messiness/chaos of the buildings gives me a strange mixture of feelings when I look at the scene. I like your enhancement of the roofs which accentuates the feeling of poverty. Found myself wondering what the people near the water are working on. |
