Hi Sophia, first, sorry about the initial posting. I had the photos switched, but all good now.
Wonderful image. Quite the intimidating gaze. Not a fan when I can't really read an animals face hahaha.
I find B&W conversions to be challenging and I am not experienced enough to offer solid advice when it comes to color sliders to adjust B&W tonality and contrast. I mention it because the foreground appears a bit washed. Adjusting red or orange would kind of be the equivalent of using contrast filters in a darkroom. Might help bring out some texture. |

Hi Jeffery, nice capture. Although I like what you have presented, I feel the original has more narrative to it. In the original, I see a more dynamic image in terms of color, size and depth. |

Sorry about the original, I forget to convert it from a tiff file. I have attached the original scan here.
This is not a conversion, it was shot on film in B&W.
The fact that you mention your eyes go all over the place is interesting. The image was not intended to be a calming smooth long exposure, so your interaction fits the experience it had while trying to get these photos. I was running in and running out trying not to get soaked by the waves. In this image, I think I had had enough, took the shot and moved on. |
