I see yours and the others point. But, I still like the image. :-) |

Hi Alex,
I like the strong diagonal line that leads you down main street. I also like the fact that it leads you all the way to the coastline.
If I had taken the shots, I would have started with Original 2, which I assume was the regular exposure, and adjusted it a bit for the submitted version, rather than the under exposed one.
Isn't this another example where is no real main focal point? Which, by the way, works here for me.

This is an interesting image.
Since I know nothing about skeet shooting or ranges where it is done, I looked at this image as one that would help me better understand the sport. So, I think I would just concentrate the image on one of the stations and zoom in.

Lou,
Like your photo illustrates (at least to me) is that like me, you are often attracted to the entire scene and not always to a subject within it.
I suppose you could say the sharp mountain in the background could be made to become the point of interest if the image was cropped differently. but since it started from a couple of video frames you would run out of pixels. And you would lose the beauty of the sky.
I am still struggling with the conventional wisdom that there must be a central point of interest.

Pete,
Here is another well composed image that reaches its full impact through post processing. What I liked the best is the final impact the mountains achieved. The river's diagonal path does indeed the viewer into the scene.
I would be tempted to crop a bit from the left side. But that is just me trying to be grope for something that may improve the scene. |

Hi Drema,
What a smart idea to terminate the POV flight mode and set up to take you image. I really like the post processing you did. The Generative fill was a nice touch. I would have lightened the shadows on the ground a bit, but too much or the mood of the photo would change.
Great image!

Hi Lisa, I agree with the others, regarding your crop choice. I might try to saturate the flowers in the center to attract more attention to them. But that is personal choice for sure.
That being said it is a beautiful image. |

Richard and Pete,
You each thought my focal point was something different. Actually, my interest was the entire scene. I guess this not good composition technique, but that was how I wanted to take in the scene. :-)
Thanks for your comments. |
