Lou,
I never thought of that. I naturally think landscape mode for my drone shots. |

Yours and similar points made by the others are well taking, Pete. Thanks. Need to start using an alarm clock to rise and shine. |

Hi Alex,
I really like the saturated colors and its overall composition. I assume, the walkway is gray. I wonder what the image would look like if you masked it out and adjusted its color?

Richard, this is an interesting and colorful image. But I am not sure what I am looking at. Is it clouds that are following the riverbed beneath tree level? Or is it the river itself shot with a slow shutter speed? This does not seem to be it, since you shot at 1/250 sec.
What am I not seeing?

Lisa, I keep forgetting about the potentially great shots are buried in our video clips. I might have waited a few frames to capture of the train on the tracks to the right, just as the engine exits the curve. I suspect there was no frame available that left a little room below the train at the bottom of the image.
You certainly were there at the right time. Without a train the image does not have the same impact. |

Lou, Iceland has some beautiful country. I like the editing you did to minimize the fog, and of course increasing the saturation.
The diagonal line the road makes is a great touch. Some might sy you should or at least could have removed the men in the shot, but I think they add interest.

Pete, another great image. It pays to get up early. Taking the photo with the sunrise behind you really highlights the shadows.
I did not realize the Travel photography category prohibits cropping. Or did I misunderstand you?
Since the sky is not the strong part of the image, you could have tilted the camera down slightly to get the roas in the foreground a bit more room, possibly.

Hi Drema,
I really like your image. I wanted to view it larger. In the large photo it says to click on it to play video. I did but it showed the screen in my comment.
What I really liked was the sepia type tone you achieved. Your originals also show this same toning. How did you capture this type of tone.
Like you said, you might have improved your image by getting a bit further back, but... I have no idea how many of my photos suffered from my getting nervous. I am slowly trying to expand my flight environment regarding height and distance.
I am curious do you have mounted strobes on your drone?

Thank you for the thoughtful review. Ironically, the kelp and other discolorations in the water are what made this image interesting to me. :-)
I have similar photos of the coastline that do not include these colors taken at other times.
The time of day when I fly is one of my real shortcomings. They tend to be in the middle of day. I need to fly more during the golden or blues hour. |
