85 Nov 22 Reply Lou, you and others are probably right. My natural tendency is to include as much of a scene as I can, especially when shooting panoramas. I have cropped panoramas or take what I call mini panoramas, and it does make for a more interesting and focused photo. Nov 12th
85 Nov 22 Comment Hi Jano,

That is a beautiful and colorful image. Like you, I do not understand the altitude being a negative number.

I do think I would clone out the second boat to add impact. Also, I wonder if increasing the shadows/lowering the exposure of the iceberg would bring out some of the detail that in my opinion is lacking now. Maybe even adding Texture/Clarity might help a bit.

This is one of those images, based on the subject matter, that all types of editing tweaks could be tried.

85 Nov 22 Comment Well Lou, I guess I am in the minority. I like the original framing. I might have tried to get a bit closer to the lighthouse if I wanted focus on that as the primary subject.

I like sweeping landscapes, which often do not work for others.

That being said, since you wanted to make the lighthouse the center of interest, your crop does an excellent job. As Drema mentioned I believe, I may have altered the crop slightly to make it a true 1:1.

In the end it is a great photograph of a beautiful area.

85 Nov 22 Comment Frankly, I did not notice the distortion in my panorama, so I did not try a different rendering model. I need to be more aware of that in my images.

Pete, it turns out I have similar cropped versions of the one you show.

85 Nov 22 Comment Like Janos acknowledged, you have taken a pretty boring image on the surface and turned it into a beautiful photograph during post. It's good thing the hiker was wearing red, otherwise I would have totally missed him.

Was the sky you used for replacement (I assume that was what you did) one of yours or a canned PS sky?

85 Nov 22 Comment On the one hand, I like the picture just the way it is. On the other hand, what if you had changed your field of view and shot the lighthouse more from the right. Perhaps you could have avoided most of the cars. But maybe that view would have eliminated the lake.

Did you do any cropping at all? I do not see the original.

85 Nov 22 Comment Lisa, I like how you increased the color saturation relative to the original. I might have been tempted to rotate and crop the image, so that only the writing was visible.

Could you still see your drone at 400 ft? Are the letters raised relative to their surrounding area or beneath it? As you pass by on the road, how did you even see the letters?
