85 Feb 21 Comment Lou, you are probably right about the horizon should be leveled. I chose not to, because the terrain does indeed rise as you go from left to right. But no matter, it is somewhat distracting.

I probably should have selectively brightened the foreground a bit. Thanks for your comments.

85 Feb 21 Comment Hi Lisa,

I liked your cropping of the F80. It is a good example of how the view from our drone can make a standard and relatively uninteresting picture (Original 2) far more interesting.

85 Feb 21 Reply Several years ago I tried using a color calibration workflow. My use of it yielded worse prints than before, so I abandoned it.

Regarding the future of drone flying at night, I guess we are going to have to learn to create the illusion during post processing. :-)

85 Feb 21 Comment Hi Bob,
I pretty much agree with Lou and Lisa's original comment to you. I took a screen copy and tried to brighten the shadows a bit, without losing the mood you were intending.

85 Feb 21 Comment Lou,
First off, I really like the composition of the shot. In comparing the shot to the original, it appears to me that you wanted lighten the darker parts of the foreground to make it standout.

But I think you did that at the expense of the highlights in the sky and clouds. They are too bright for my taste, and come close to being blown out.

Perhaps you could get more what you were presumably after by using the Shadows and Highlights command or even a Linear Gradient. As you know there are several more tools that would help you deal with the contrast between the sky and the darker foreground.
