Joan, I plan to visit an almond orchard later this month as part of the Yolo Art & Ag program. I did go a couple years ago and the blossoms are overwhelming and so much to photograph. I like the leading line of the road with the blooming trees on each side with the ladder effect of the shadows. I agree with the others about getting rid of the power lines. I do like Andres' edit. You might also want to consider bringing out the color of the blooms a bit more. Nice agricultural image! |

Hi Andres, what a great macro image of this flower! Lighting is perfect and the eye is drawn in through the pistil. The image is sharp and the textures add interest. Very nice image! |

Robert, a great opportunity to catch this bird in winter at the feeder. Shooting through glass can be tricky and when you denoised it appears you lost quite a bit of detail in the bird. This is a great shot. Perhaps if you used another denoise and/or didn't crop so tight. Sometimes the noise is just OK! I like taking photos of wildlife and really appreciate the angle of the bird here. I think you have much to work with! |

Kieu-Hanh, lovely image of this Ancient Town. I like the overhead view with the river and curve of the city on the right acting as leading lines into the image. The hills on each side in the back curve into the river and also lead into the frame. The reflection of the lights in the river is nice too. Very nice image |

Ruth, great starburst and light on and through the icicles. Very creative and creates a sense of winter/cold! I also like the light of the sun reflected on the snow. I don't mind the deck at the top but it might be interesting to see what it looks like without it as suggested by Kieu-Hanh. |

Cindy, thank you for your comments. I see now how the brown vegetation is a distraction. |

Cindy, Welcome to Group 3! I have been a member now for a few years and find this to be so helpful in my photography and editing skills. I am sure you will enjoy being a member!
What a great subject to photograph...a lighthouse with moonrise! The reflection of the moon on Lake Huron is a beautiful touch. It is interesting how the blue in the sky reflects on the snow in the foreground and this makes the white lighthouse really stand out and become the focal point of the image. To my eye the tower of the lighthouse appears to be tilting back whereas the lower section with the reddish roof is straight. I like the colors of the blue hour with the pinkish sky and moon rising in the background with the reflection. |

Vincent, this is an interesting subject to photograph. You mentioned high key, but to my eye, only the sky is high key. I took it into photoshop and played with sliders to bring out more of the shadows, whites, blacks and dehazed. Then into silver efex pro to give the rock more of a high key feel. And I cropped so the focal point is more of where the two meet. I am not sure why it pixalated but you get the idea. Just tried out something different and interested in what you think. Many options for this subject. |

Paul, nice to experiment and I do like this image as it is a bit mysterious and makes one really look. I can see the texture of the sand and the perspective from which it was taken adds toe the interest. I agree with adding a bit more contrast. Dreamy image! |

Adrian, I love taking bird photos too and know how difficult it is to get one coming right at you. You caught the eye and wing spread nicely. I agree with the others about the whites being overexposed including the bird as you have lost detail in the body. One trick, if you're willing to give up some control, is to set your ISO on automatic with a range that you are comfortable with...sometimes I have found that to be useful. Exposing for the highlights and bringing up the shadows in processing works too. But it is so difficult with a fast moving bird as the conditions change in a second. Nice job with a very challenging opportunity. |

Great capture! Interesting subject that tells a story of the times with our phones. I agree that a little vignette would work well but it is good as is. Nicely done. |

Bob, the lighting on the trees is wonderful. The contrast and tones really set off the tree trunks and lead the eye up into the leaves. I don't think you need to lighten the shadows as it adds a bit of mystery of what one might find venturing into this forest! Nice image. |

David, what a nice portrait of your granddaughter. The abandoned farm is a great place to take the photo. I don't mind the focal point issue at all. I think it adds some softness to her and makes it that more appealing. You captured the glint in her eyes and her position in the frame is very nice. Lovely portrait! |
