Kieu-Hanh, Your travel images are so interesting! There is alot of history in this photo as Joan has pointed out. I like that the bird on the statue is real as it gives a sense of some activity in the scene. And, I like that you left the castle in the background. Did you take any from away so as to capture all or many of the angels? I thought that might be an interesting perspective as well. |

Joan, thank you for your edited version...it works very well. And, yes, I have other images without the crowding that I will share. I just really liked the movement in the horses in the foreground here. |

Robert, I am so glad I got this lens...it works very well and even when I crop it in editing, the images are sharp. It is my "walk around" lens. |

Andres, great capture of the jump. It is sharp and you captured it at the perfect moment as the horse has all legs up and the rider's face shows such concentration. I like your edits and adding more sky so it is not so tight in the frame. I like your crop but I also think showing the posts would work as well. Very nice shot. |

Abdullah, welcome to Group 3! I have learned so much from participating in this group and always appreciate the comments and suggestions. I really appreciate that you stated the meaning behind the image...I need to do more of that! I think the composition is strong. The lighting on the king and pawn with the background blurred, the pawns in the front blurred and darkened give all the attention to the subject you intended. I agree that you can remove or darken the light spot in the back to keep any focus there. Very nice image! And subject to many interpretations! |

Robert, this image is a great nature photo...a family of egrets! The crop works well and all the birds are sharp. With the wingspans and the "parents" communicating just adds to the interest. I am curious about the denoise...I have a Nikon Z9 which has less noise even at higher ISO but I use the denoise in camera raw or topaz. I see you use DxO photolab...do you like it better for denoise function? |

Hi Joan, I like taking photos of animals and, it is true that backgrounds are not always to our liking. This lion is sharp and his eyes are very striking. I would like to see your original photo. I agree that removing backgrounds and doing composites are very difficult. I believe there is a brush tool that can be used in the mask to help with finer areas such as wispy hair (or in this case, the mane). I am glad you shared this image and I appreciate you telling us about the process. |

Ruth, oh my goodness what an image! You have the elusive moose in the perfect spot. Your composition, the sharpness, layers, and, of course, the water dripping from his mouth. Just perfect and lovely! |

David, this is a stunning photo. I really like the effect of the 5 sec shutter speed, the sharpness and contrast. I appreciate your original as well...both are stunning! |

Adrian, this is a great image, especially with the timing of the face on the funicular looking at the face on the mural. The contrast and tones are perfect. I appreciate all three of these images especially the one with the people in it. Very nice travel/street shots. And, you are inspiring me to go back to my Portugal pictures! |

Paul, I like the scene of a woman on the bench in the midst of this wondrous garden. The path is a nice leading line right to her. I think she gets a bit lost with all the foliage and tones. I wonder if more contrast and a crop might help. |

Paul, I enjoy reading the history behind this scene. This is a very nice image with the leading lines of the rails, the ominous sky and the old station. The contrast is well done. Nice image. |

Vincent, what a creative minimalist image. I like the edit that Adrian shared by removing the twig on the left and darkened the twigs and shadows. Lots of possibilities here! Per David's email, I did look up your photo in the June journal and it is just beautiful! |

Paul, Mono Lake is in eastern California almost to the Nevada border and is off Highway 395 which travels the Eastern Sierras. Your question regarding HDR has made me look it up for my camera and I see there is an automatic setting for it. Would that have helped with this image? Thank you for your questions and comments! |

Michael, I always enjoy your creative images! This architectural shot with the diagonal and curves is very interesting. And the seagulls give scale as well as balance. Nicely done. I am in Group 39 for monochrome as well as Group 3 if you would like to visit...I always have appreciated your comments. |
