Kieu-Hanh, I have never been to Mykonos or anywhere in Greece but have always been a fan of the white buildings against the blue sky and sea. You have captured a lovely architectural image here with the cobblestone street, blue sky and the stairs on the right leading into another dimension. I was curious about the doors/windows as Ruth asked, so I used camera raw in photoshop to lighten the doors and windows. The doors appear to be reddish and then blue at the top of the stairs. I think bringing out these colors adds to the image. |

Robert, beautiful image of the bleeding hearts. The background color works well to give the flowers their due! Focus is spot on and composition is very nicely done. |

Andres, I have never heard of Mayapples and they look lovely, making for an interesting flower/plant to photograph. I agree with you that the image is too busy and I like the edit and crop that Ruth did. You may also want to enhance the color of the blooms to make them pop against the green of the leaves. It does look like a tropical forest! |

Ruth, I really like what you have done here. The composite works well and using the transform tool to reposition the bird is a great way to do that...I wouldn't have thought of it! The monochrome/silhouette is very nice showing the space between the tree limbs. The mist in the lower right and the contrast within the sky adds drama. The birds really make the image and are well placed for the composition. Very nice and creative. |

Paul, I like your black and white version of this scene but I find your subject to be so small that it gets lost and difficult to identify. I would like to see the original image. You have done a good job converting to black and white. I will have to check out Version 8! |

Fran, I think both the color and the monochrome work well, depending on your focus. The color version focuses on her dress whereas the monochrome is the whole scene...her face and movement of the dress. I agree that the whites are slightly too bright and David's version works well. |

David, I find this image to be very soothing and my eye travels via the stems to the flowers. The bokeh and high key effect work well. I do think you have competing focus points with the flower in left/center versus the one near the border on the right which is so much darker. I personally like the border you chose. |

Adrian, welcome to the group! When I first saw your image, I thought "Portugal"! We spent time in Lisbon and Porto a couple years ago and I loved the tile and the "wavy" areas. This works very well in monochrome. The contrast and tones are nice and the people walking up the steps gives a sense of scale and interest. The composition leads the eye into the scene. Very nicely done! |

Paul, I used photoshop to add a white border around the image. I went in to the Help menu and followed the steps listed for adding a border. |

Vincent, I think this image works well in color and in monochrome...depends on what you want to convey. The monochrome is nice in bringing out the texture and detail of the bathing suit. I agree with others that her skin tone seems off and I think I would leave the original landscape crop so there is more space on the left and it is clear that the dress on the floor is behind her. |

Paul, I am drawn to lone trees when out with my camera, too. This tree has a beautiful shape and the composition is nice having the main subject on the left with the fence in the background and snow covered mountain on the right. I agree with others to add contrast and that having the original will be helpful. |

Michael, another of your lovely travel images! My first thought was the juxtaposition of the life there and the cell phone. The tonal range and catch light of her eye are wonderful.
P.S. Miss your comments in our group!
