Hi Ruth, what a great place to visit and learn. I like your composition but somehow the saturation of the colors feel like something is off. I took your edited image and converted to black and white in photoshop and then did some adjustment with the color sliders. I look forward to your thoughts. |

Kieu-Hanh, how nice that you are traveling over the holidays. This scene is beautiful with the costumes against the green grass and dramatic sky. I agree with others about the focus. Perhaps your shutter speed was too slow for the dancers movements. |

Robert, what a great capture. The fox is giving you the "once over" I like the glint in his eyes and that his face is what is in focus. Nicely done. |

Michael, great ICM image. You have the primary colors in there with yellow being dominant and framed nicely by the two birch trees. And your technique allowed the viewer to see what was being captured but with an artistic flair! Very nice. |

Andre, wow! what our tools can do now! You really did manage to recover this image. It is a strong composition with the perspective from which you captured the scene. I do agree with Michael that taking out the viewer and leaving the guard in will make it stronger. Nice work! |

David, this is a very dramatic scene in black and white. The flying swans really stand out. I do agree with taking out the branches in the foreground as that is distracting. It is not really apparent there is snow on the ground in the black and white version as the lighter areas appear as bodies of water to me. I took the liberty of taking your original into photoshop camera raw to try and bring out the snow and a bit of the shadow areas. I added contrast to the sky and I removed the branches in the foreground. I converted to b&w in camera raw. I look forward to your thoughts. |

Paul, great composition with the row of beach huts, the line of the sand at the top of the mound, the trees behind...all lead the eye into the frame. Nice contrast in the sky and sand. And all the textures are brought out. It makes me want to go there and explore. Very nicely done. |

Vincent, nice use of lines and shadows. I do like Paul's edit as well as he left more of the sky/clouds in and it has more contrast. I wonder what it would have looked like had you stepped a bit to the right so that the line of poles was more visible. Your image is nice and lends itself to many options. |

Diane, what a story behind this...I hope your new camera wasn't damaged or insured! This image is haunting. I like your use of the lighting and the composition. It begs the question as to what is behind the door and what/who might be lurking in the other doorway. The textures are nice. There is enough visible in the shadow areas to give it this eerie feeling without showing too much. Very nicely done. |

Paul, thank you for your comments. And I appreciate the information on how to work on the exposure with the three images I have. Thank you! |
