Hi Ruth, I am fascinated by your adventure into these frozen flowers. What a challenge you have taken on. I like how you edited this. I agree with LuAnn that the balance with the flower, stem and leaves is very appealing. The ice gives it a very artistic and creative feel. Very nice. I do like how LuAnn brought out more color in the flower. However, I would not crop it as it is nice to see the leaves. |

LuAnn, I really like taking wild life photos and I think this image of the bear is very nice. He/she is looking right at you, you have captured the glint in the eyes and he/she is in a tree! What a find! I think painting in the leaves to hide the sky was a great idea. Nice wild life capture. I will take a look at the one in Group 62. |

Thanks, Michael. I wasn't sure you would like the border...just playing with it. And thanks for the tip on the pixels...I kept trying to get it narrower and I think I ended up at 75 pixels. |

Hi Joan, Napa Valley is a beautiful photographic gem and I love seeing the mustard in March too. I ran the Napa Marathon one year which is held in March and saw the beautiful yellow in between the vines as well as the hot air balloons at dawn. We live in Sacramento so only an hour away! Your image is a beautiful capture of the vineyard and the rolling hill. The lines of grapes lead right to the hilltop giving the viewer the desire to run right there to see the other side! The added vibrance is just right and makes the colors pop. Nice image. |

Hi Joan, The lavender farm turned out to be a bit too early for us as well. There was a bit of lavender but nothing to really get excited about so I was looking elsewhere for images. I was fortunate to see these dragonflies. It was still but the angle of the image is what makes that wing on the top look a bit strange. I do like LuAnn's crop. Thank you for your comments. |

Hi Michael, I love your window image and the way you converted it with just a hint of color. It gives the very feeling you were trying for and a vintage feel. I wanted to play with it so I took it into photoshop and cropped some off the right side and added a border with just a hint of the rose color you have in the flowers. I thought since the window frame on the sides was missing that a border might look nice. It was a good lesson for me in adding a border in photoshop and it was a fun exercise. I look forward to what you think. |

Cindy, I like how you captured all the detail in windows that you describe. The angle of the image leads one into the frame. The contrast level is perfect. Lots of detail here. I agree with Chuck, good eye! Nice image. |

Chuck, ahhh, an accident led to such a photographic opportunity. Nice composition with the mailbox in the lower left third and shadow. I like how the road leads into the frame as well. The monochrome works well highlighting the textures and you have done a nice job with the various shades of black and gray. Nice image. |

Karl, nice image. I like the backlighting and the shadow of the branch behind it. The square crop works well. I find that the branches behind and around it help frame the leaf and don't bother me at all. As far as the screen goes, I don't have an educated opinion on that! |

Lorna, I used my iPhone for our latest vacation! As they say, your best camera is the one you have with you. I like the photo with the patterns and an abstract quality to it. I think it works well in both versions. Very nice. |

James, this has alot of texture and I like the old wagon wheel. I suggest adding a bit more contrast. I am curious why you flipped the image. I agree with Chuck that the original tells the context and doesn't need to be cropped. |

Paul, I like the reflection and you are right, the bridge stands out in mono. I saw James' suggestion to flip it so I did that and it does look nice. |

LuAnn, great capture of this bear in the natural habitat. The tree limbs frame it nicely, he/she is looking right at you with the glint in the eye, and I can almost feel the fur! The monochrome brings out so much texture and the absence of color really leads the viewer to the face. Very nice wild life image. And what a challenge in losing/recapturing your raw images! Did you figure out why that happened or was it just a bad card? A while back I had been hitting the delete after downloading button on my PC and eventually my card would not work. I was told not to do that because it reformats the card to the computer. I learned my lesson! |
