Kieu-Hanh, In response to your question, I think you picked the appropriate cyclist to aim your focus. He is in the forefront of a pack on a curve and, as a bonus, a red jersey! |

Joan, Beautiful scene with the golden hills and blue of the sky. I agree with LuAnn that is feels a bit over saturated and the overexposed highlights in the clouds can be a distraction. I would like to see your original image. I am wondering if a bit less sky and more of the reservoir would work well as I bet the cloud reflection was beautiful. Nice that you live so close to this area! |

Kieu-Han, this is a great image! I am certain the event sponsor would like a copy. You have captured one cyclist as the main point and yet the motion is so apparent by the pack. I see others have commented on the one rider not being clearly in focus but in my opinion, this image works well. The rider in red is very apparent and in more focus than the others. And the background is very blurred which gives the image a sense of speed and excitement. |

Ruth, this is a very artistic and pleasing image. I like that you used the clone tool to add a stem to the tulip on the left. The ice gives it a very abstract feel, yet the viewer knows they are tulips. The colors of each go well together. This would look lovely printed out (perhaps on metal to make the colors pop) and hanging up! Very nice. |

Michael, I like this image very much and the questions you pose. You have certainly accomplished the assignment of photographing windows! I see three in the image! The orangish color of the wall really sets off the woman at her laptop. I see what you mean about the angles as to your comment on my image this month. I will certainly remember in the future that it is not necessary to straighten every time! This image tells many stories and you have captured them well. Nice image! |

LuAnn, I really enjoy taking photos of wildlife and these turtles are just so cute and all lined up! I like your image very much. The reflections in the water are very artistic and frame the turtles. My only suggestion is to crop it less tight on the left in the direction they are facing. I cropped your original to about the same as you have only with a bit more room on the left. I am curious what you think of this idea. |

Joan, thank you for your comments. I like what LuAnn did as well and I think I will try the new object removal technique in photoshop to see if I can remove the people in the background. |

Ruth, thank you for your comments. I agree that the original image is more interesting. I did use the highlight slider but it didn't seem to work as well as I would have liked. I think I can play with this image some more based on your and others suggestions. |

Thank you, LuAnn, for your comments and your edited version. I think blurring the background is a great idea. And, I mentioned above to Michael that I might be able to use the object removal tool to get rid of the people in the background. Yes, I braved it by asking these gentlemen and they seemed very happy about it. I had a bad experience several years ago with street photography and have been shy about it ever since. But this experience was a good change in the right direction and gave me some confidence about it. |

Thank you, Michael, for your comments. I, too, prefer the original and maybe I can try LuAnn's technique to blur the background and/or use the new object removal to get rid of the people in the background. I had fun using the IPhone on our trip but I do prefer my "real" camera! |

Paul, I like the dark sky with the wisp of a cloud and the conversion to b & w brings out more of the texture and tones. I like James' version as he has brought out more detail in the mountain and the tree is more apparent. Great subject to photograph. |

James, this looks very nice in b & w. I appreciate the crop you did and the people on the stairway which, I believe, makes the image. There is alot of interest here with the texture in the stone and the various shapes...the arches, columns and the triangles over the arches. Nice image. |

Chuck, I am in agreement with James and Lorna. Also, I would suggest increasing the contrast a bit. It is interesting with all the textures of the wood, metal and vegetation. |

Karl, great action image. I don't find the course marker ribbon a distraction in the b & w version. I don't have any other suggestions. |

Cindy, this image certainly highlights textures and "grunge" as well as light. However, my eye keeps going to the window before seeing the barber chair. I took it into silver efex pro and used a light sepia and tried to take down the brightness of the window and bring out the chair. But I am not sure if my edit does justice to the light reflected on the tile floor. I look forward to your thoughts. |

Lorna, nice subject to capture on you iPhone. I am still learning the iPhone techniques. You mention taking this in portrait mode to blur the background...so I have learned that now! The flower is very sharp and your image in b & w highlights the texture of the wood in the background as well as the texture in the flower petals. I like both the color and the b & w versions. And, I like what James did with darkening the background. Lots of options with this image. Very nicely done. |
