Hi All, I appreciate all the comments and suggestions on this long exposure image. I use a heavy manfrotto tripod which handles my camera well so I had to think about what happened to the focus. I used the tamron 18-400 lens and set up the scene and settings prior to putting on the ND filter. So, I think when I put the filter on the lens moved and I lost the focus! A lesson learned! Again, thank you all for the comments. |

Michael, you never cease to amaze me with your creativity and beautiful images. And, making your own light box! This image is very sharp and the swirl shapes of the seed heads are very interesting. I hope you are printing, matting and framing these images. They would make nice gifts too! |

LuAnn, I love old vintage vehicles in photographs. You have captured the rustic logo with the texture from the age. The yellow leaf really makes the image in my opinion. I can feel the fall air as I walk around the car show! I find it interesting that this is classified as abstract...I would have thought still life, too. Very nice image. |

Ruth, welcome to group 3! I really like that you turned around saw this image and took the photograph. You have captured the moodiness of the sky and her contemplative look. I do like the tones in the original image and LuAnn's subtle edits. This is a very nice portrait of a thoughtful day at the ocean. |

Ahhh Ruth, my favorite season is captured in your image! The beautiful aspen trees frame the snow covered mountain very nicely and lead the eye right into the center of the image. I think your edits have enhanced the image nicely but I would have left more of the sky in as in the original. |

Kieu-Hanh, I, too, love white egrets. I see them alot in the Delta area south of where I live. They are very interesting and wonderful to photograph. I like the composition of leaving space to the right of the bird and the muted fall colors are nice. My only thought is to bring up the exposure on the egret a bit and maybe saturate the colors some. Or, as others have suggested, convert this to a monochrome image. |

Joan, welcome to group 3. This image really strikes me in that it really shows the perspective....the immensity of it with the person walking up the dune. The footsteps almost look like a seam. The colors are striking...the gold of the dunes against the sky. Very nice image. |

Hi LuAnn, Thank you for your comments and suggestions. I used a variable ND filter (1.5 - 8.7) and had it on the maximum as it was a really bright day. I do have a polarizer and perhaps that would have worked better. Yes, I was standing up and shooting straight on! Lots to learn with this technique. |

Hi Michael, thank you so much for your observations, comments and suggestions! Yes, it was quite the challenge and I have much to learn about it. I was using the tamron lens so the vr in the camera was not activated but I had forgotten to turn it off on the lens. Since then I have purchased the 24-200 Z Lens so I will have to try it out at some point. |

Hi James, this is an interesting abstract image! You did a nice editing job with the black and white. Where was this taken? |

Hi Paul, This image works very well in monochrome with the various tones and textures. I agree with James that the wings are bit bright and you can bring down the highlights on them easily. You may also want to bring up the shadows a bit on the bolts and wood behind the logo to bring out the textures there. |

Hi Chuck, you have captured this angel statue well and the serenity it brings to the cemetery. I do agree with James about trying it with the base of the statue included and I do like his crop as I think it really brings the subject to the forefront but does not lose the feeling of the scene. |

Hi James, welcome to group 50! I do like your crop as the flowers are really the focus. I tend to not crop enough, so thank you! |
