Jane I am impressed you saw the climber in real time! Better eyes than mine for sure. I love the trees mimicking the mountain shape. Great detail and dof. I didn't notice the climber either until I read your description. Emmy might be right with the red clothing thing. The climber is directly above the tree top in the middle on the bottom...pointing right to him. If you do it would you post it so we can see if it works? |

Welcome John to the group! This is a great capture of the memorial. The colors are amazing. I agree that if you can get rid of some of the city lights on the right side you should. Too distracting. Also, for me this shot isn't about the moon but the teepees. I honestly didn't notice the moon initially. I would get rid of the moon altogether myself. Wind can be difficult to photograph in. |

Damon I love the second image. Well I actually love them all. The little girl is adorable. The second one grabs me as she feels totally engaged with you, the photographer, and utterly at ease. I like the side/front lighting and that she is wearing clothes that match her eyes. You captured so much expression. In LR I removed, not very carefully, the chair just to see what it would do for the overall image. I like it out, and added some burning of the background. I did remove a couple of freckles (by her nose and eye) but that's it. Let me know what you think. So cute! Well done. Can't imagine this wouldn't win something! |

Bernie this is a fabulous capture of your dog. What a great picture to have forever to remember her. We lost our dog 3 months ago and I cherish every photo. I might try b/w version to get rid of the collar color. The red tends to draw my eye away from her face. Maybe crop up a bit. That's it. |

Emmy I also did not see the tire. The cross is so bright that it tends to be all I focus on but I have a hard time reading what's written on it. You had a great idea about creating a story which is difficult to execute sometimes. Mind to reality. I often have a really hard time. Maybe cropping up from the bottom and down from the top so the eye focus's in the center more? Maybe taking the darks down and brights up would make it a little more dynamic. Don't give up and certainly continue to be dramatic! |

This is beautiful Richard. I kind of like the Space Station action. Love the composition and the color. |

Thanks Jane for the comments. I do need to do something with the flare as it seems to be too distracting for everyone. |

Thank you Emmy for the suggestions. I saw the flare but just wasn't sure what to do with it. I tried removing it but it wasn't working right. I will play with cropping it out. I did not use a tripod. |

Emmy I was at the beach on late afternoon and decided I would play with camera motion. I have not done it before this afternoon out there. I liked how the result conveyed the quiet solitude and peace I felt when I was out there. Am curious how it strikes you or is it ho hum. |

Thank you Lance. I like this crop. I will play with different lens though I am usually at some distance thereby requiring a little of a telephoto lens. |

Lance I agree with what you are saying. I was just noticing my eye was distracted by that dark area. I don't know how many times something like that happens to me and I still do it. As far as the cutting off of the edges, well personally that doesn't bother me. I put an image in for a critique group and got nailed for the very same thing. I think it actually changes the focus from the tree alone to the tree in it's environment. |

What a beautiful area! I would try to bump up the highlights and burn the shadows a bit to create more drama. Nice composition of the mountains, valleys.

Fun shot Jose. took awhile for me to notice the person the middle. Maybe if she was wearing all black or all white it would make a bigger splash. Love the idea of this though. Nice texture. |

Such spectacular country! Beautiful skies to go with gorgeous country. Really nice light here for the great composition. The only nit pik is that my eye keeps being drawn toward the area that is cloudless on the left behind the tree. It's so much darker that the rest. Maybe some cloud could be added or the area could be lighten up a bit?
Just a thought. Pretty shot. |

Dirk the light on the flower and the leaves in the background is really nice but I do find the black outlining of the leaves and flowers on the left is really distracting for me. Not sure how to get rid of that. I would have maybe tried to get rid of that plant and tried an image without it. |

Debasish I really like the tonal quality of this image and the capture of the lone bicyclist. I feel that that is the image and the lower section is unnecessary. I cropped it and dodged the bottom too try to keep my eye from falling down to the bottom. Great composition. |

Stephan thank you. I made a mistake. It was 1/3 sec at F/11, 200 mm. Not sure what happened.
