Hah, classic world over dog expression...misery. Adorable and we've all experienced it. I love the yellow snaps leading to his face. Hope you gave him a cookie:-) |

Bernie this is a beautiful sunrise, lovely colors. I too love LR. I think this is a bit soft however because you were so wide open to be able to get the shuttle speed to 1/200. I think if you used a tripod and maybe f/8 or f/11 and slightly slow slower shutter speed it might be sharper or you could go for the soft water look. I'd definitly go back to play with this some more. Beautiful |

I also love this image cropped as is. I love the soft water, vibrant tree foliage and the tall green pines/firs in the background that for me make the scene seem bigger and more open. |

Richard this is great. Interesting, sharp and the colors are wonderful. I don't mind you have cropped the hair or the ear. I like the soft, dark background. It's all about her gaze and makeup. Definitely invites me to want to learn her story. |

Jane this is a beautiful spot and I love the trees set to the right of center. The beautifully rolling hills are nicely highlighted. I do have to say though that initially my eye sees the top of the skt that is so bright and dominant. Your title is all about the trees but they become secondary to the bright sky for me. I would probably crop that top section out. Otherwise sooo beautiful. |

Thank you for all the comments. I am attaching a version without the vignette. I also toned down the hoo doo in the back as much as I think I could. It was very bright, very cold (April at dawn) Lance a beautiful time as weather clear, warm during the day, not too many people and able to stay at the park lodges. I realize I have gotten too accustomed to too much vignetting. I'm going to keep looking at these two to see how it settles. Jose, this was the first morning there so pure luck. If you get to the spot early you have plenty of time to scope things out. But you have to be early as it draws many photographers. |

Lance I why are you currently opposed to vignetting? I like to use it in varying degrees to enhance depth perception as well as occasionally for enhancing the image's focal point. Sometimes I just a hint is used and occasionally it can change a mood of an image. It's not always possible to achieve this in camera especially in the middle to the day. I realize this is totally a personal choice and am curious as to your thoughts behind it. |

Jose such a beautiful location. Spain is definitely on my bucket list. I like the woman but maybe would have preferred her walking, and walking towards me. You have caught her so she seems bisected by the buildings beyond. Lovely arch and wonderful shadows. I could spend a lot of time there attacking this shot from so many angles. I would maybe move a bit to the left if that was possible, so the right side of the arch is viewable. |

Lance you have selected some nicely textured subjects that really display how B/W photography emphasizes details in the image. My favorite is the image of the coupling of the two cars (I'm assuming). My only real reason for that is it is a cleaner, simpler subject. This is totally personal and just how I am reacting to photos at the moment. The others are nicely composed but the textures from rust and peeling paint and train parts are too busy for me. I like the composition of the one you chose but did you add grain or is it highly cropped? Nice grey tones in all. |

Joe I have never been there but your photo gives me a sense of the history and personlity of the place. In LR I added some vignette and dodged the roller coaster a bit to make it more of the central theme. My eye was a bit distracted with the side streets as the 3 divisions of the image (as I saw them) all drew my eye at once. The vignetting does add a bit of moodiness to the overall feel so not sure you'd like that. |

Judith I actually prefer the color image of the building. The colors are so soft and subtle and show the design of the building so beautifully. The b/w is lovely, all of them, but for me the color is what brings out its true character. And I love your high key photos. |

Dirk what a beautiful tree...so perfect. Great sky as well. The only thing that bothered me was the foreground. I was distracted by the light/dark lines formed in the grass. I cropped much of it out and have shown it here. What do you think...you miss the foreground? |

Debasish this is a lovely, moody image and yes a guy in a trench coat would be nice but still a great shot. I think I might get rid of the stuff on the other side of the bridge. It is just clear enough to distract me as my eye is drawn there naturally by the image. Maybe just make it look so foggy you can't make out anything. |

Thanks for the comments. I will play with the vignetting on the original. Joe I specifically like the tree on the shadow with the shadow of that tree on the rock behind. For me without it it would become a meaningless blank hoo doo and distractingly bright. I will try it though to see if that is the case. I appreciate your thoughts.
