Beyond the dirt specks. They were from "taking my camera for a walk" outdoors Bill. I understand your feelings. In our club it seems as though the only PSA sanctioned winners are bird photographers. While they are very good images, there are others doing macro, creative, landscaping, etc. None of those stand a chance in most competitions. There has been no imagination by the club leadership as to categories.
By the same feelings that you have, I started doing macro and still life. I felt as though there wasn't much new in the "outdoor" stuff. Everyone has seen every southwest canyon ad nauseam, every lighthouse on both coasts, every pond, puddle, etc., if you get my meaning.
I respect your feeling, but try and understand. Also, there may be many people that are not able to "take their camera for a walk". One on the great things about our hobby. There's something for everyone.

Thanks Judy. We've got more storms being talked about for the coming week and my wife is babysitting at one of the daughters for the week. SOOOOO, more time to play. Stay tuned.

I am very happy that someone takes enjoyment from my work. I didn't see the dirt until you mentioned it. It's usually the first thing I check. when I was looking for ways to do this the first instruction was "wash the glasses, they will show every speck". Also the backgrounds should be clean.
Time to prepare for the third nor'easter. Third in three weeks, Monday night into Wednesday. Great time to play inside with macro. |

Bob if you're referring to the reflection at the bottom, it is intentional. It is another glass upside down.

New cameras are fun. I think this digital stuff came along as a preventive measure to keep too many of us old farts from getting Alzheimer's. They say keeping the mind active helps. Of course it may make us nuts first.
I like this image. Where was it taken? The colors are very nice. And the composition is well done.
Have fun with the new Fuji.

OK. Seen enough of the surf in the last few days. But, this is nicer. Does this hole make a loud noise as the one in Acadia does? maybe open the rock brightness a little would more interest.

I think it's an interesting shot. we did see Devil's Tower on our cross country jaunt a couple of years ago. I think the rock formation here his very interesting. The rock on the top left and the way it's "bent" is particularly and makes the image. Maybe a little over saturated. I think the sky is fine. |

Nice sharp and clear shot Don. I think it has interest and maybe more so as she is upside down. The tone is good. |

Interesting shot Bob. I took it into LR 6 and played with it. It was a JPEG so I could do an awful lot with it. But here's what I did. I adjusted exposure, decreased highlights, opened up the shadows, adjusted the white and black points, adjusted clarity, reduced sharpening and increased the Lumanosity, I clicked on the remove chromatic and profile correction boxes.
See what you think.
