I like the zoomed in view and the color and light are gorgeous. I like the tree giving sense of size. To me the sliver of sky top left takes my eye out of the frame...maybe crop a bit off the top? The light on the hills behind is lovely but distracting. I wonder re either a slightly less narrow view to include them or cropping even lower to remove them...or maybe darken both the background rocks and sky sliver? Not sure what your aperture was but foreground rocks look pretty sharp but the tree is soft. |

Oh poor boy. He does look a bit dismayed, humiliated. I cropped, darkened the top more, and lightened his eyes a bit |

Such a gorgeous time of day. I have to echo what others have said re straightening the horizon and how much I like LR. I like the sense of balance that comes with it being so centered despite rules of composition. To my eye your auto sharpening overdid it on the ocean behind the surf...looks a bit crunchy. Re Richard's version...it is such a tricky balance between subtle restful morning colors and a bit more saturation. I guess it would depend on the feeling you want to create. |

I seem to be in the minority here! I love this as is. To me this photo is about Fall and not just the waterfall. I like the framing, the size of the framing, the crop, the brightness of the leaves and the perfect (to my eye) amount of motion blur. I totally get what you say about how hard it is to get the focus and then place the ND filter. Do you use back button focus? I use it and then adjust the filters. One thought I have re focus...looks as if the focus is on the waterfall. The foreground leaves are somewhat soft maybe because of focus, maybe because they were moving a bit. An option might be to further blur them with wider aperture...which of course would mean perhaps more ND filter! |

What a delightful image. It gave me a much needed morning laugh. The colors are riveting as is the expression. To my eye the forehead jewelry, left eyelashes and nose are best focus. I like how the focus drifts off but wish there were just a bit more dof so eyes were perfectly focused. They are mesmerizing none the less. And of course you can't go back and shoot it again! |

Thanks Damon. I will take your suggestion under consideration but to me the photo is about the conversation between the light in the sky and the trees and the brightness creates the light that then lights up the trees...almost as if it is calling the trees into the heavenly light. Re processing. I edited in LR then took to PS and Silver feed and then back to PS for some dodging and burning |
