60 Sep 20 Comment So fun to see. What an amazing experience you had. This shot is awesome as well. Thanks for sharing it Sep 18th
60 Sep 20 Reply I would sure encourage you to do that. Were you offended that I would post a shot of similar place with very different conditions and processing. I was not trying to show something I thought you should have done, only to share in the awe of this spot Sep 18th
60 Sep 20 Comment Wow! That looks really scary! You did a great job with freezing the motion. I wish I could see his relationship with the earth to give it more of a story. You might lighten his chest just a bit. As others have said, I wish we could see his face but I know that often isn't possible. There is also some haloing around some of his body especially arms. I usually get that when either I have over sharpened, have too much dynamic range between background and subject and maybe have brought up shadows too much, or when it is a composite Sep 18th
60 Sep 20 Comment I thought I had already commented on this...sorry to be so late. To me it perfectly depicts how I imagine India...bright, chaotic, many things competing for my attention. The priest half in the light, half in the dark seems perfect. I wonder re lightening the side of the blessing dish and contents (incense?) that is on the side the light is coming from and maybe darkening the lion a tad? I think you might also add a tiny bit of haze to the smoke. Thought provoking shot...how would one process a shot to bring out the sacred feeling for us when the culture is so different than ours? 60 Sep 20 Reply I totally agree re wanting help with my images that I don't think work perfectly. That's why I didn't post the second one! I'm frankly tired of "critiques" that say "great shot" "I love it" etc. if it seems that I'm not open to people's suggestions, I've expressed myself poorly. The cropping ideas simply didn't help me create the environmental shot I am aiming for. I totally agree re the flower being cut off on original shot not being good...can't figure out how to fix that Sep 11th
60 Sep 20 Comment This is delightfully dramatic and I love how you caught the color in the cloud. And the clouds are gorgeous and the pano stitching flawless. I don't particularly like the under part of bridge top left so just for fun I did some straightening and then cloning. Sep 8th
60 Sep 20 Comment I'm a bit late to the party and others have commented on the same things as I would...gorgeous flower and bud perfectly exposed and nice and sharp throughout. I like your composition with the sense of the flower wrapping around and snuggling in to the tree. I guess my question for you would be "is the flower the main subject or is it the relationship between the flower and the tree?" If the former, I think Emmy did a nice job of making the tree drop back in importance Sep 8th
60 Sep 20 Comment Just for fun...I used a curves layer to increase the contrast a tad (but maybe lost some of the fog in the process?), cloned out the clouds, straightened based on the tower, and added some denoising Sep 8th
60 Sep 20 Reply Since many suggested a crop to highlight the hummer better, I figured I would share another shot from the same sprinkler play Sep 8th
60 Sep 20 Comment I first saw this on my ipad and found the lights in the houses distracting but when I put it on my computer this morning for a larger viewing, I love them. I like how they curve and echo the curves of the hills. I think you did a great job with bringing out the fog with your dodging and burning. It is such a marvelous capture of the fog around SF. I do think it is a bit tilted right...visible in the tower as well and I'd love to see it with a bit more contrast just for comparison. Maybe I will go play with it. Personally I'd crop out the two tiny clouds. I don't think they add and they are a bit distracting. I would love to hear more re use of ND filter for fog. I've never tried that. Sep 8th
60 Sep 20 Reply Do you by any chance have a link to that video? I'd love to see it Sep 8th
60 Sep 20 Comment This brings back such wonderful memories. My husband and I went there in January of 2018 and had such an awe filled experience. I like the mistyness and your subtle color especially the way you brought out the pale blue flow almost as if it were water rather than travertine. My sense is that the trees were there before the flow and the travertine killed them. I'm afraid I don't have any ideas for improvement but, just for fun, I'm going to share my shot from perhaps the same place Sep 8th
60 Sep 20 Reply Thanks Bernie. I have lots of shot of hummingbirds with less of the environment so I was wanting this to have her in her environment Sep 7th
60 Sep 20 Reply Thanks Emmy. I see what you mean and took this back into PS and painted in both the bright drop and branches with low opacity of what seemed like the appropriate colors and then added gaussian blur to the changes. What do you think? Sep 7th
