Thank you Linda. Because I shoot in raw I do a little bit of editing in Adobe Camera Raw. I love that I don't have to do a lot of editing for these images. |

Thank you Trey. Given that I have a very large garden and a few fruit trees, I have a lot of subject matter for still life set ups. |

Thank you Michael. I've discover that I love light painting. There is a bit of a learning curve and some good articles on the web. I started out learning from the guy who posted this article. He is a member of our Boise Camera Club. Good Luck and thank you again.

Very nice image Jay. I really like how you show how 'shooting through' can work. As Ian said, capturing birds is very difficult and not in my wheelhouse. You've done a great job. |

Very nice image Trey. The fern provides a nice leading line into the image. Without looking at the original the left stump looks like a tree so I didn't think I needed to see all of it. Great clarity and so much texture. Well done! |

Sanford, Such a great image. I do like the consistent color across the image and the format of the image. Such a calm beautiful place. There are really nice leading lines from the bridge. Well done! |

This is great Cyndy. It almost looks like a light painting to me. I've never used an off camera flash and something I'd like to learn this year. The only thing I might suggest is to put a stroke line around the image so we could see where the image is cropped. In this forum and some others with a black background it's hard to tell where the image ends. Since I use a lot of black backgrounds someone suggest that to me and it really helps. Well done Cyndy! |

Great leading lines image. I love these kinds of images that can take your breath away. Even though it is actual light coming through the trees in upper left, you might consider using the healing brush to remove the. They were just a tad distracting. Otherwise, it is a great image Ian. Well done. |

Thank you Sanford. I'm posting the original before minimal edits were done in Adobe Camera Raw.
For light painting you set your camera on a long exposure (mine is generally set at 30sec). You set up you still life and set your focus. Once in focus, switch your camera to manual focus. Turn off the lights (pitch black room) and use a flashlight to lite the areas you want to highlight. It takes a bit of practice at first, but eventually you will get your timing and light painting just right. You should be able to find a better complete tutorial online. Thank you for commenting. |

Thank you Cyndy. Very much appreciated. I've actually spent the last year (while in quarantine) trying to perfect this technique. I'm still learning and perfecting as I go. |
