Steve great job with your post-process editing. I like how you did a tight crop on the Ruppell's Weaver. It shifts the viewer's focus entirely onto the bird. You also did a great job with your adjustments to brings out the colors and details in the bird's face. The eyes are nice and sharp. |

John (Tab) what a wonderful picture with lots of storytelling going on. I like how you captured the feel of the hot dirty work going on in the blacksmith shop. Your cropping was spot on as it puts the focus the blacksmith as the central character. The blacksmith's concentration on the hot glowing pickax, the tense muscles in his arms and his dirty hands tell a lot about how hard this work is. The cropping of the helper helps with the framing and focus on the pickax. Great job bringing out the background details and the noise helps to create the mood you wanted to capture. |

Jim yes the twin arches are just west of the North Window Arch. They share the same parking lot. |

Jim the 100 dpi photo is much sharper. I also like your tighter crop as it has better leading lines. |

Laura I love how you made the colors and paint bush strokes pop in the photo. The details in the textures are wonderful. I also like how you cropped out the white arch on the left side of the photo and made what you did not crop the same color as the wall. Great job putting the focus on the colorful wall sign and door. |

Sam great post editing job combing the two photos. You captured the sad mood you were aiming for. My only suggestion would be to place the boy a little further from the left edge of the photo. Also, if you crop out the overhanging roof the photo is more focused on the sad rainy-day boy as the central focus of the picture. See attached photo. |

Jim I love taking photos of colors, shapes, and textures in nature. I like the rich red colors of the leaves in your photo. To me the photo looks a little out of focus for a colors and shapes photo. I tried going back to the original photo to try and sharpen it, but it did not seem to help. I tried your idea of cropping the photo a little more, using the edited original, see attached photo. I like how the photo looks with a tighter crop. |

Else what a beautiful action picture of the eagle fishing. The eagle is perfectly in focus and I like that you got the sun shining on its eye. The warm yellows and browns reflecting on the rippling water makes the eagle jump out of the photo. The placement of the eagle in the photo is spot on. My only suggestion is that I would like to have seen the entire eagle reflection in the water. Otherwise a great photo. |

Stan what a beautiful place to photograph. My only suggestion would be to consider cropping the right side of the photo to emphasis the sunlight falling on the hillside and the greenery reflecting in the water, see attached photo. |

Steve I like how you cropped the photo to give more weight to the left side of the photo. I also liked how you sharpened the image and tried to bring out the yellows and creams. However, to me the yellows seem to be overpowering the photo. I changed the Vibrance -14 to tone the yellow down a little. What do you think? |

Sophia I like your decision to make this a B&W photo. This puts the focus on the wonderful textures of the Sanderling's feathers. The B&W tones are perfect, from dark blacks to muted greys to bright whites. The Sanderling is also perfectly in focus. I did debate whether the shadow in the bottom-left corner of the photo was a distraction or helped the composition. I decided I liked it as the Sanderling's eyes are focused on this spot, leaving the viewer wondering if this was dinner. |

Matthias what a beautiful photo of an old tree with a starburst. I like how you shot the photo low to the ground so the tree limbs are not blocking the view of the background mountains. You did a great job with the exposure setting to capture the shaded side of the tree while not allowing the background to get too dark. I also like your use of the tree shadows as leading lines. My only suggestion is you might want to flip the photo horizontally, so the shadows leading lines are coming in from the bottom left corner, see attached photo. |
