Darlene, that was the reason, why I left the windows on right and left side. But I must admit, that Henrys version has more charme! |

Henry, I like the picture! The tree stump has an interesting shape. Why did you brighten it up? It would be interesting to see, if this part is much more darker, silhouetted by the sky. |

Peter, I like your photo. It seems, that you see every year and every emotion in her face and on her hands. Very good monochrome picture.
I'm not sure about the situation, but I would like to see her entire face. Could you wait a moment for a better situation or was she not in the mood to be photographed? |

Darlene, congrat for a steady hand! shutter speed 1/6 without tripod, chapeau! I had some trouble to recognize the scene. But with your explanation I can see your story. You wanted to picture the terraces more than the landscape? Did you try to crop only the terraces?
I any case, a great conversion of the picture into monochrome. Big shot! |

Butch, the first thing I realized is, that this an interior shot through a window? I know, that humming birds are living in darkened rooms (or it seems to be darker, when you are shooting from in- to outside), so it's very difficult to get the right light. You did it! Congrats! You captured the movement, sharp, where the picture must be sharp. The additional bees enridges the story. Well done, no suggestions! |

Kathleen, this is really a great picture. What a pity, these birds are not living in Germany. You took this photo with Aperture 6.3? Did you do it because of the bokeh? I'm not sure about the Sony 70-200. The Canon version of this lens would give a very good object release, so you can try to pick up ühotos like this with Aperture 8 or 9. The result would be same like Roy and Butch edited your photo. And, another effect, you would get the left wing and the face of the bird much sharper. |

I'm still searching for years for a shot like this - if winter or summer: in vain. Too seldom in this region.
Great shot, congrats!
Butchs version show more color, but is does not seem natural. It's hard to bring in the full color on a white background. Probably you can brighten the bird up a little bit? |

Sylvia, the photo is a great job. Sharp and more place in the flight direction to give the bird space to fly. In my opinion the best crop. You have brighten the photo very much - the left wing is a little bit to dark. I assume, that you cannot brighten the wing particially without quality loss.
I don't see any params in your description. I always shoot pictures like that manually. To get enough color information in the subject, I increase the ISO to about 2500 upto 6400 and choose a shutter time of 1/2000 upto 1/8000 (if possible). You can reduce noise with Topaz for example. |

Butch, I think the "vignette" is dued to the really strong brightning of the photo. You can see, that the edges are blue. |

Roy, I can agree with the general opinion: Great shot, strong story, no need to show the rest of the wings. I see a little haze on the osprey, probably dued to the distances and the sunny day. Did you tried to reduce haze a little bit in photoshop/RAW?
And, as a tribute to the discussion "predator": The "superpredator" is lucky get his fish served in a restaurant. Guess, if everybody would catch his meal live, the word "predator" will get another sense, ha! |
