82 Aug 20 Reply Ruth, Thank you for your objective feedback. I really appreciate your candid assessment of my photo.

I personally like the photo with the shadows in the foreground. I think it adds character and another dimension to the photo. But I do understand your perspective which is consistent with the other members' comments.

Take a look at the alternate version of this photo I posted above.

I must say I am really excited to be part of Group 82. This is wonderful forum for us to collaborate and share our ideas.

82 Aug 20 Comment This is a great wildlife photo. I love the details of bird in flight and the mist by the bird's tail. Also the bokeh on the water tends to further accentuate the subject.

What an awesome image! Very tranquil and peaceful. Where was this taken? It reminds me of a similar scene from the Consumnes Wildlife Preserve in Galt, CA

82 Aug 20 Comment Here is the same scene from a slightly different angle, but without the shadows in the foreground. Notice that the rainbow is not as visible is the upper left section of the photo. Aug 1st
82 Aug 20 Comment Andrew, this is a very compelling photo! Great detail, and I like how you were able to burn in the "blown out" detail.

I agree that the figure adds perspective. Also, I like how the reflections of the ceiling structure on the floor adds depth and interesting detail to an already beautiful image.

82 Aug 20 Comment Kathleen,

What a spectacular photo! I really love the how the sky and clouds are reflected on the water.

The only suggestion I would have is to maybe increase the contrast slightly to bring out a little more detail.

Other than that - kudos for a great photo!

82 Aug 20 Reply Andrew, Thank you for your feedback. I appreciate your candid assessment.

You are right - if I had moved more to the right and higher up the falls, the rainbow would have partially disappeared. I have several other shots of that same scene that depict exactly what you are suggesting.

However, I will see if I can modify this image to eliminate the shadows.

This photo was taken on May 31, 2018 with my Nikon D850, Nikkor 24-70MM F2.8G ED lens at 24MM, F10, 1/320th second, ISO 100.

There are additional photos of the Gullfoss Waterfall and other scenic locations in Iceland on my website - https://gregorystais.smugmug.com/.

Also, if you are interested, here is the link to Capture One Pro's website - https://www.captureone.com/en.

I have been using it for a couple of years now and like it much better than Lightroom.
