I like the your perspective in this colorful imposing journalistic image. Your framing works well bringing out the main action right to the front. One can spend a lot of time viewing so many interesting faces in the image.
Don't know what is that smudge on the bottom left of the image, it does distract the eye. I personally find the image a bit lacking in clarity.
Yes, as Stephen points out the image could be cleaned out a little more by cloning the two radio towers in the background and some wires on the right side. |

I think that you have got here quite a striking well composed image of the mountains. The darkened sky with clouds provide a nice complementing background. Good choice of monochrome and the border. The lighting and contrast goes well with the scene.
In my personal view cropping a little at bottom and left to reduce the black (tree tops) will put more emphasis on the glorious mountains. |

Xiao, Your post processing works well in this simple 'Young Man' portrait bringing out the bright colors especially the red background that appears quite striking. I like the overall sharpness and the details. The somewhat penetrating look in the subject's eyes and the otherwise relaxed pose make a good combination.
Personally I find your cut-off at the bottom a bit uncommon However when you get used to viewing the image I think it works well. I am sure you must have taken some other shots with the full subject in the frame. |

Thanks Darcy. During post processing I saved 3 versions and in one of them the lower section of the road is cropped out. Comparatively I too liked this one better. |

Thanks Larry for sharing your night image of the Devil's Tower. You have captured the night sky very well. Some more clarity in the rock and the surroundings and it would be perfect. |

Darcy,
I think you have very well succeeded in capturing the soft water look in this waterfall image. I like your angle of view with the water flowing diagonally from the left. I see good overall sharpness of the image and enough details in the rocks.
In my view the image needs exposure adjustment as the top right area appears to be somewhat over exposed and the bottom left a little under. |

Tom,
I like your composition of this beautiful landscape with the snow covered hills in the background and the 'rock' in front. Using a wide angle lens, a small aperture and proper lighting you have emphasized the DOF.
Yes the red color does catch the eye and that can be easily toned down.
I have similar suggestion regarding the size of your image as I have posted for Greg. I think the larger size enhances the visual impact and enables the viewer to enjoy the details. |

Hi Greg,
I think you have captured a nice sports action shot. I like the pose of the surfer that shows his effort to conquer the waves . Your adjustments of the surfer body and particularly the face work well. As Tom suggests some further tonal adjustments will improve the presentation.
I personally feel that due to the rather severe crop from the original image and the file size being too small the details in the image especially in the surfer are reduced. I would suggest to save images in a size like 1024 x 768 or more as long as it does not exceed 1 MB. Are you shooting in RAW or JPEG fine? I think you will agree that a large file image gives more visual impact. |

Tom,
Thanks for your feedback. I agree with you about the little'halo' on the right side (due to lack of precise selection) and must admit I knew of it when I posted the image but didn't feel like re-doing the process. Anyway I shall spend some more time on it. |

Thanks Larry for your visit to or group and your feedback on the image. I took quite a few images of the area, all in the mid afternoon. We were on a tight schedule with no plan to wait for the night sky. If possible, would like to see your night shot. |
