14 May 20 Reply While we are getting ready for the next round, I must complement you on the adjustments made ad the final result. May 29th
14 May 20 Reply Hello Ata Kamal,
Thanks for your feed back. Yes the info tower does contrast with the old building. We were there only for a week and stayed in Sultanhan hotel on the Piyer Loti Cad that as you know is very little walking distance to where all the action is. The streets were indeed overcrowded. Yes I also hope it is some form of reset we all are going through. I think if when we come out of this and learn to take care of the Nature or at the minimum not abuse it further, we shall be o.k. A famous writing of M.G. Gandhi
"Mother nature has enough for man's need but not his greed".
Stay safe.
Like your this month's image .

14 May 20 Comment Stephen, thanks for your comments. I don't think simply using 'content aware'will help and I presume it will be quite a time consuming task using other PS tools. I saw Kamal Sahin's postings for last couple of months. Istanbul is full of interesting objects and street scenes. Pity I had only a week there and the time was mostly spent visiting museums. 14 May 20 Reply Thanks Larry for the clarification.
You are right the description does not go well with the image. Perhaps as usual one's personal feelings and attachment take the precedence. Here, without paying much attention to the description, I commented on the nice composition of a bud alongside a withering flower.

14 May 20 Reply Larry, Agreed flowers are beautiful and the photographer must capture the beauty. However I have seen photos from some good photographers that show decay in such subjects. There is a PSA webinar scheduled on 14th May on this theme. Here is an excerpt from the information given on the site: "As nature photographers, we often seek out the flowers, leaves and such that are perfect, with no blemishes or defects. This program highlights subjects that are not perfect, such as flowers that have character, double-headed flowers, decaying fall leaves, the deformed coneflower that stands out as flawed and hence different and beautiful, rust as it creates abstract patterns amidst the decay, etc.
Would like to know your viewpoint

14 May 20 Comment Thanks for explaining in detail the sequence of adjustments made to achieve this final monochrome image with a very good tonal range. I think the various patterns in the image are well defined, sharp and quiet striking. The dark background enhances the highlights in the image. Did you leave the thin lines in the center left of the image on purpose?
Speaking very personally I find the keystoning in the image somewhat overpowering.

14 May 20 Reply Larry, Thanks for your feed back. While cropping I was tossing between whether to leave the pillar on the left or not and finally left it to enhances the environmental setting. Thanks for pointing out the white line on the side of he figure Just shows how much we miss some important adjustments in our images until it is pointed out by a viewer. May 10th
14 May 20 Reply Thanks Xiao. Personally my attention was more at the desperate situation of the woman seller, however I also wanted to include the street atmosphere. May 8th
14 May 20 Reply Thanks for your feedback. I did not crop the mage further to keep the street atmosphere. May 8th
14 May 20 Comment I too think that the image has more of a journalistic value and you have captured the event very well in good composition with the two helicopters flying in unison. I can imagine the place the image has in your personal memory.

I agree with Darcy that the image being overly gray lacks contrast. I personally find lack of sharpness and details that of course you could not help given the circumstances in which the image was taken. This may also be due to the image file being too small at 113 kb. I would suggest you review the image sizing information recently posted and save images with a size of 1024 x 768 or higher as long as the file size is not over 1 Mb. I have tried to increase the contrast and at the same time straightened the horizon line.

14 May 20 Comment I think you have got a nice composition here of a bud and a flower that appears to be past its full bloom. The off focus dark background suits the image very well. Personally the petal cropped at the top does not take my attention away from the main subject.

The softness in the petals suits the flower, however I would have liked to see a bit more sharpness in the stamens. Also I think adding a thin border may help the image to stand out when viewed against a dark screen.

14 May 20 Comment A nice portrait of the 'young businessman' with a very serious determined look in the eyes probably contemplating on the future. I like your conversion from the original as it separates the model from the background. I see good sharpness and details throughout. I think your image will well suit a business magazine or as an advertisement for men's clothing. May 4th
14 May 20 Comment I think you have really captured a beautiful image of the lion cub in good composition precisely focusing on the 'baby eyes'. Your conversion from the original is quite precise as by selective darkening and saturation you have brought out the natural colors. .
The rock at the top left does draw attention and I agree to Larry's suggestion of darkening it. I made a quick attempt at it by slightly adjusting exposure of the background.
