Stephen, Thanks for your interest in the image and feedback. We did visit the Chora Church and also went to the Tekfur palace nearby. I may post an image from Chora in the next month's round. |

Indeed a very well captured action shot with a story. I like the setting of the natural habitat and the alertness seen in the cranes even though at rest before the next flight. I think the crane taking off in the foreground and the splashes in the water make this image. I agree the foreground grass is a distraction from the main subject.
I also suggest to clone out the crane at the bottom right corner that is going out of the frame and the two at the left bottom.
I am posting two versions, one cropped as per Larry's suggestion and another with only crop at the bottom since in my very personnel opinion the blue sky at the top somehow (in my view) provides a balance with the water at the bottom. I like both the versions.
Appreciate Darcy and other members comments on this.

Larry, Re-looking at the image, I now see that the image is indeed almost exactly divided in half. Something to keep in mind in such situations. Thanks. |

Greg, I like the adjustment you have done. It places the fishermen more in a pleasing diagonal form. I think you have left a tiny bit of the fishing net and stick on top that the finished image be better without. |

Hi Yvonne, You have a very interesting monochrome here right from the verandah of your home. As they say that interesting images are everywhere only it is keen eye that sees. I see a story here of the children engaged in fishing with the guidance of a parent. Your exposure to get the silhouettes effect is right on spot. Good idea to include the trees in the image as it completes the natural setting.
In my very personal opinion there is a bit too much of black in the image so I have cropped on the top and a bit on the left side to give more prominence to the main subject I also added a thin border to isolate the image from the background. |

Greg,You have a very colorful story telling image here and you have worked on it so well in post processing by removing all the unwanted elements in the frame and adjusting the color saturation thus converging the viewer's attention on the main subject. I like the eye contact between the balloon vendor and the girl taking his picture. The blue sky with the scattered clouds makes a good background.
The only one thing that I can suggest is to clone out the boat in the rear of the girl as it passes right through her neck and thus draws unnecessary attention. I also lightened the vendor's face a little. Hope you agree.

Larry, you have captured the wave so beautifully and interestingly. It is indeed an art to visualize pattern and beauty where many of may not notice. I like the way the intensity of light gradually decreases from the bottom to the top and leaving a very faint hint of a wave at the top. The dark part at the top left adds to the mystery.
What time of the day was the image taken? |

Hi Syed, I think that is a very interesting and unique image. We don't see many images taken from air or underwater and you seem to be good at these techniques. Not only your image gives an in-site to the fishing festival, it also shows a unique way of fishing unknown to most of us. I like the colors in the water and the pattern made by the fishermen. The image though taken hand held from a helicopter appears to have sufficient clarity and details. Some of the fishermen looking up and waving draws the viewer's attention and adds to the impact.
I agree with Barbara and have come with a slightly different crop. |

Thanks Barbara for your feedback. From the architectural point of view there is so much to see and capture in the old mosques and churches that stand in ruins. The problem sometimes is that these places are so much swarmed by tourists (taking selfies!)that one has to wait long to make an image. |
