This is a well-captured view of the bird in an uncommonly seen posture. Depth of field, color and composition are all excellent. |

I agree with Walter. You captured the feeling of opening the flap of your tent first thing in the morning to see the desert as it too begins its day. How did your prospecting go? |

On the other hand, I think a bright blue sky downplays the sense of an arid landscape where once there was a lake. The shot as submitted is very effective at presenting the vast area of dirt (formerly lake bottom) even though it doesn't take up that much of the frame. |

I agree with Walter, this is a well-done image of what for me is a rare bird. The composition is particularly strong, with the bird and the rock making an X in the center of the frame. |

Walter, You certainly achieved both goals! I get a real sense of the cold temperature. The left river bank and the stream itself draw you into the image, definitely a scene I'd like to explore. |
