I'm always taken aback when I see the orange teeth of some rodents, even though I know that it is the correct (natural) color. I just found out that it is because the teeth of gnawing animals have iron in them instead of magnesium--making them better suited for the job at hand (really, at mouth). They are stronger and more acid-resistant than other rodents teeth. |

This is a very compelling portrait. The ewe is certainly engaged with you (sorry. . .). The shallow depth of field puts the viewer's attention right where it should be. Warming up the colors a bit in post makes for a more inviting image. |

I agree, this is well done. The silhouette of the acacia trees pegs the location for me, and stand in marked contrast to the extraordinary sky and reflection. |

Janice, your comments are to the point. Since this is my first go at this sort of thing, I think I stopped too soon; i.e., with too much texture for the bird. I've done tow additional versions; one with no texture on the bird and one with considerably less than this first version. I think I like the reduced-texture one the best; glad for the comments of everyone else. |

You've captured a very inviting scene, and I'd love to take a swing and splash down into the pool! It shows ups as dark, but definitely turquoise on my monitor. Maybe a radial filter would bring out the colors a bit better and draw attention to the "target area" of the water. The slow shutter speed adds to the inviting nature of the image, with the silky appearance of the falls. |
