Group Round C/R Comment Date Image
75 Aug 20 Comment Thanks all for the kind welcome! I've enjoyed my first month and am looking forward to discussing more images with you. Pauline, I'd be happy to go to McKee Beshers with you; hopefully by then without masks! Aug 24th
75 Aug 20 Comment Great capture, Muhammed! Getting on the bird's eye level makes the image more intimate. I like the original crop, as it puts this young bird in a larger space, emphasizing the bird's fragility in a potentially hostile world. Aug 20th
75 Aug 20 Reply Here is the latest version. The tighter crop was a good idea. Thanks all for your comments. Aug 20th
75 Aug 20 Reply Thanks for your welcoming comments! And thanks for the suggestion of a new crop. Your version is a little extreme for me, but I agree that I don't need to show so much of the sunflower. I did some playing with the image, and with a bit more effort, I can clone out the V-shaped (legs of another bee I think) distraction pretty convincingly. Hope to repost the next version in the next week or so. Aug 12th
75 Aug 20 Comment I think the images we get from just puttering, without the need or expectation of a contest winner or wall display, can be the most surprising and rewarding. You've created a striking abstract with much more depth and texture than the original. How many versions of the original went into making this? Aug 12th
75 Aug 20 Comment I agree with Janice, this is a lovely sunset image and you did well to accentuate the orange tones. I have one suggestion, with a crop similar to Janice's, but adding a touch of the orange tint to the bird as well. Aug 12th
75 Aug 20 Comment Walter, this is a beautiful image! The crop and vignette serve well to highlight the butterfly, and this is definitely a time to show symmetry.
My only question is whether the diagonal stem on the right should be blurred or removed, as it is more prominent than the blurred background foliage on the left.

75 Aug 20 Reply Walter, Thanks for the welcome! I'm glad to be part of the group. This shot was handheld. Thanks for pointing out that V-shaped mark--I think it is the hind legs of another bee, and managed to overlook it when processing. You're right, I'm better off without it. Aug 6th
