94 Dec 20 Reply Would you like a photo of my cats? Dec 28th
94 Dec 20 Comment I did spend the time to remove the cloud and add more branches in the bottom. I also changed the cropping of the sky.

I sent the new photo to Sherry on 12/17 but she has not yet replaced the old version with my new version.

94 Dec 20 Reply Thank you for reprinting that. Are we allowed to use the adjustment brush or the various removal tools?

94 Dec 20 Comment Lovely photo. I like the necks of the two birds.

94 Dec 20 Reply I need to refresh my memory of the exact rules of both PSA and NANPA on doing retouching of an animal when submitted in the Nature category. Dec 14th
94 Dec 20 Comment OK I will experiment with cropping. I do like the heads at 2/3 the way up -- I do not want to have them higher in the frame. But I can bring in a little more at the bottom.

And the one at the right is not looking at the left bottom. He was looking right at me! I was glad he did not fly off until after I took the photo.

94 Dec 20 Reply I needed 400mm and then cropping. They were on the top of a tree quite a distance from me.

I had never ever seen before two different kinds of vultures sitting together especially peacefully, not competitive.

94 Dec 20 Reply I had not noticed the dark area on the right. It was an out-of-focus dark cloud. I did not think it would be bothersome. I can lighten it next time.

Regarding the cropping, I looked at the original and there are some more branches underneath that I had cropped out. But if I add those back, then I would need to also add more sky above the birds so their heads are not too high in the picture. Then the birds would be smaller.

94 Dec 20 Comment Very pretty bird. I like the way you got it perched on the wood. I am envious of your 840mm capability.

I see in your notes that you cropped it and decreased the exposure. My personal taste would have cropped the right side to make the bird centered and therefore the image would become a square format. I would have kept the bird lighter rather than decreasing the exposure.

94 Dec 20 Comment Very clear portrait of this bird. Good focus and great posture with the neck turned.

I would use LR or PS to brighten the catchlight in the eye and that will make it even more stand-out. When using this lens, I would have stopped the lens down to f/11 given that you had so much light available to be at ISO 100. That will give more DOF.

I have read varied comments about the PF version of the 500mm 5.6 lens. Plus is definitely the low weight and the price. Have you noticed the minus points yourself?
