I'm perplexed like you as to how the young woman is so sharp and the background is blurred. But it doesn't bother me visually. I wonder if she was moving at the same 'velocity' as your smart phone and everything else was static? But whatever, I enjoyed it - well balanced colours, a young woman who is completely involved in what she is doing and whilst the checked table cloth doesn't quite fit the rest of the colour scheme it doesn't distract or detract. |

Two very unhappy looking young women, I wonder how heavy their wares are and how many hours they've been carrying them around that day. It's got my imagination ticking over, which I always enjoy. I think it's a good street photo and I'd be interested to see it again once you've played with it a bit using Victor's thoughtful suggestions. |

I really liked this as soon as I saw it, it's full of interest. I'm fascinated by the idea of a pink baroque sofa on the edge of a pavement. Particularly with two men who don't really look like baroque sofa types! I enjoy images which make me ask questions, even where there is no answer. I agree too that Bev's edit is an improvement. |

Thank you Victor. Your comments are appreciated and you are right with the corrections you've made - it is now a better image but leaves in all the elements that made me submit it in the first place. Thank you. |

This is a really interesting image and is well seen and beautifully taken. For me I find it a little too full of action with the women in the window and all the reflections competing with each other for my attention. I agree with Vic about the pavement and the sponge. |

I love this. The colour is amazing and if she's a photographer's model then she's definitely letting the photographer know that she's getting fed up! So much more interesting that posing. |

Whilst I don't think that people are necessary in street photography I don't think I said anything about feeling strongly about it. - rather that I thought it was a subject for discussion. I think your contention about (not) copying graffiti is really interesting and a big subject worth a full debate outside of my single image. Should your premise also apply to statues, buildings, churches, or anything outside? I think also that different countries may have different laws as to what is and what is not permissible photographically.
In the UK it is legal under the Copyright and Designs Act 1988 : Representation of certain artistic works on public display.
For me if the graffiti takes up more than half the photo you are copying the graffiti not creating a new composition, but it is not illegal and I've never seen it banned in competitions. In this instance the wall art does not take up more than half of the image and it is a new composition.
What do others think? |
